Presidential candidate for the Convention People's Party (CPP) Ivor Greenstreet has slammed constructors of the Flagstaff House for failing to provide a place for disabled persons in the Presidential edifice.

According to him, the constructors failed to recognize that one day there will be a President of the Republic of Ghana confined in a wheel chair.

Those who constructed it never thought for a second that one day, the President of Ghana will be in a wheel chair," he bemoaned.

Ivor Greenstreet expressed his resentment during the 2016 Evening Encounter Series by the IEA on Tuesday at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

He noted that the country has, over years, neglected physically challenged people but his administration will put a stop to it.

He told the gathering that during his regime, the Disability Act will be fully implemented to protect the rights of persons with disabilities in the country.

"Let’s re-orient our whole mindset on disability. We will make sure the Disability Act, the UN convention on rights of persons with disabilities will be fully implemented with the speed of light. We shall go further to ensure their dignity is protected and enhanced, and that education and health and transportation are free.

He added that Ghanaians are disabled in diverse ways and called on the electorates to vote for him and the CPP to resolve the issue.

"If you can’t access proper healthcare or you can’t find a job or you can’t educate yourself or you don’t have a proper nutritious meal a day, then you are disabled by your circumstances," Mr Greenstreet said.
