Police at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region have arrested two suspects and launched an investigation into circumstances under which some persons hurled stones and hooted at President John Mahama’s convoy.

The arrest of the two persons was confirmed by Ejisu Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Laare Baman, who indicated that investigations were underway.

Even though the president’s car was not involved, the parliamentary aspirant of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Huzu, who was part of the entourage, sustained injuries and had dents on her car.

She reported the matter to the police and proceeded to hospital for treatment, after which she was discharged.

President Mahama, who is in the Ashanti Region as part of his Accounting to the People tour, had visited Ejisu to inspect and inaugurate other projects for the people of the region.

The Ashanti regional secretary of the NDC, Raymomd Tandoh, has told ClassFMonline.com on Wednesday June 29 that the incident occurred some minutes after the president’s car had passed.

“It was some people along the road that were misbehaving towards the presidential entourage, not even the presidential entourage, [but] the constituency entourage. It is not an attack on the presidential convoy. It was on a street where the constituency executives were following after the presidential convoy had passed,” he explained.
