The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says, it is unruffled by the polls prediction of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) favouring the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A recent report by the EIU said Ghana’s stagnant economy was expected to feed into the largest opposition party’s narrative that the ruling party was not fit for re-election.

But speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, Mr. Kwame Zu, Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, disputed that and said “we are not the least troubled – we are not getting panicky”.

He said they remained focused and would continue to actively engage with the people to aid them to see through the deception and lies of their political opponents.

The NDC trusted and remained confident in its conviction that Ghanaian voters would reward it for the good job done by renewing its mandate.

Mr. Zu indicated that the government had delivered on its election campaign promises, adding that, it had brought tremendous development to the people.

He said evidence of was seen from President John Dramani Mahama “accounting to the people tour across the nation”.

Nobody could pretend to be unaware of the massive infrastructure development that had taken place under the Mahama Administration.

Mr. Zu expressed optimism that the NDC was going to win the general election by a wider margin – it would garner not less than 57 per cent of the total votes.
