The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced Saturday, July 23 as the date to elect a Parliamentary nominee for the Bunkpurugu Constituency of the Northern Region.
The party was prevented from holding the primary in the Constituency in November 2015 following a law suit filed against it at the Tamale High Court by Mr Namburr Berrick, an aggrieved aspirant who was disqualified.
However, the Tamale High Court on Wednesday upheld the decision of the NDC National Executive Committee (NEC) to disqualify Mr Berrick from taking part in the primary.
The court also awarded costs of GH¢20,000 against the plaintiff for not using the internal mechanisms of the party to seek redress.
Following the ruling, the NDC has announced that the primary will take place on Saturday reports Graphic Online's Tamale reporter, Samuel Duodu.
It will be contested by five people; Anthony Gingong, Bonchel Abdulai, Japong Tahidu, Kolan Azumah and Dr Benson Kolan.
