A reporter with state newspaper Daily Graphic, Mark-Anthony Vinorkor, has been charged with contempt of parliament.

The contempt charge is related to his inaccurate report on the Constitutional Instrument (CI 94), which will regulate the conduct of the December polls.

Parliament on 15 July banned Mr Vinokor from reporting on parliamentary affairs over his publication, which the house said was inaccurate.

The Graphic journalist had reported that the constitutional instrument laid in Parliament was changed clandestinely and replaced with a new one.

Members of Parliament were unhappy about the story and hauled him before the house for questioning. He apologised but wrote another piece the following morning which sought to slight the leadership of the house.

Subsequently, Mr Vinorkor, together with his employers and editors, appeared before the house to render an unqualified apology.

Mr Vinokor is expected to appear before the Privileges Committee of parliament.
