Reports reaching Today indicate that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sacked a huge number of its supporters including activists and branch executives in the North Tongu constituency of the Volta Region.

Today was reliably informed that the NDC took the decision because those members had joined the campaign team of independent parliamentary aspirant, Mr. Christopher Kofi Eleblu, who was a former key member of the party.

The decision, Today learnt, was confirmed by the North Tongu constituency Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Moses Amenudor, when he spoke on Bridge FM, at Atimpoku in the Eastern Region, on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Mr. Amenudor in the said interview explained that the party [NDC] sacked those members whom he described as “recalcitrant” because they campaigned for the independent parliamentary aspirant Eleblu) against the party’s parliamentary aspirant, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, who apparently is the incumbent MP.

He further explained that Mr. Eleblu, who was one of the gurus of the NDC in the area, breached the party’s constitution by deciding to go independent.

Mr. Amenudor  was also reported to have alleged that Mr. Eleblu was going round telling constituents in the constituency to vote for him (Eleblu) to become the Member of Parliament (MP) and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President in the December 7, polls.

But two members of the communication campaign team of Mr. Eleblu, Mr. Kingsley Tettey and Theophilus Mawuli Duagbor, who were on the same radio station, described the statement of Mr. Amenudor as “fallacy and unfortunate.”

“Moses is not serious at all. They don’t have any message for the people. Our parliamentary votes are already for Mr. Eleblu so we don’t need any body to sack us from the NDC.

“Amenudor Moses is really a joke. The fact is the Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa’s campaign team has no message that is why they have resorted  to lies and propaganda, thinking that, that will help them to retain the North Tongu parliamentary seat,” some loyalists of Mr. Eleblu, who spoke in an interview  with Today, stated.

When contacted by Today yesterday to seek further clarification on the issue, Mr. Amenudor admitted that he made those statements on Bridge FM.
