President John Dramani Mahama has asserted that on the average Ghana's economy has grown in a higher quantum in the past eight years than under the Kufour-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
According to him, every economic indicator under his administration clearly show a marked improvement in the country's economy.
Outdooring the NDC's 2016 Manifesto titled 'Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana' at the Sunyani Coronation Park, President Mahama, who had already given highlights of the manifesto a couple of days ago in Accra, said the NDC manifesto is the best plan to lead Ghana Forward.
He revealed that the working document for the next four years, aims at putting people first, accountable governance and expanding infrastructure for job creation.
Despite an early morning downpour, thousands of NDC supporters clad in party paraphanelia, converged at the event's grounds for the manifesto launch.
Spotting a white long sleeve shirt over an ash trouser, an excited President Mahama, who commenced his address by introducing a new party chant which involves whistling, said unlike previous governments, his adminstration has exposed corruption so much so that it has contributed to Ghana's improved performance in the Transparency Index.
Hailing his administration's efforts in improvement in health, education, and other sectors, he indicated that he is on course to bringing inflation down to a single digit.
Whiles expressing his appreciation to his wife Lordina Mahama who he described as his number one supporter, companion and love for the past 24-years, the First Gentleman urged the people of Sunyani whom he called in-laws (as his wife's home region is B/A) to work together with the NDC, and promised to take care of their beautiful daugther for rest of his life.
He used the occasion to also promise the working force of the country better conditions as the economy grows and further lauded the relationship existing between them and labour since he assumed office.
“We are grateful to organised labour for the peaceful cooperation and relationship over the years. And I promise even better years ahead as our economy grows from strength to strength,” he said.
