Consultant to the National Health Insurance Authority has embarked on a tour of the Education Ministry in apparent search of the list of 123 community Senior High Schools said to be in different stages of completion.
Ametor Quarmyne's tour to get the list was to fulfill a promise he made to Kwame Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM's Kokrokoo program that the list was available and that he would submit it on his next visit to the station.
The former Editor of the Ghana Palaver newspaper a member of the government's communications team had touted president John Mahama's achievements and cited the promise to build 200 community SHS as one of the success stories of the NDC.
Even though the promise was to complete all 200 schools by 2016, the president in his highlight presentation of the manifesto said 10 of the schools had been commissioned with 123 others in different stages of completion, some in an advance stage.
He said if given the opportunity in 2017, he will complete the remaining schools by the end of his tenure in 2021.
Several government spokespersons, including the Deputy Education Ministry Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu had on different occasions repeated the fact that 10 of the SHS had been commissioned with 123 of them in several stages of completion.
But the spokespersons never gave a list of where the remaining 123 schools were and at what stages they had reached.
In last week's edition of the Kokrokoo, Ametor Quarmyne made the same claim and was challenged by Kweku Baako Jnr and the host to make the list of the schools available so journalists will be able to independently verify.
Quarmyne accepted the challenge, saying the list was available and promised to provide it detailing exactly where the schools were sited and at what stages they were in. He even requested for the email of the host so he will forward the list to him.
However, the government spokesperson appeared seven days later without the list but with a story of how he toured the Education Ministry in a desperate attempt to find the list. According to him, he is not the Education Minister so he had to go to the ministry to get the information.
He said when he got there, he was directed to the Project Department but was told the head of department was not around. Ametor Quarmyne said he was then directed to the secondary school section for the list but there too, he didn't see the head.
He told Sefa Kayi that he had left information with the Ministry for the list to be made available and once the list is presented to him he will forward it to the host. His explanation triggered a bout of laughter from the panelists with Kweku Baako saying the explanation was an insult to the intelligence to those who were demanding the list.
He said he had sent same request to the Deputy Education Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for the list to be made available to him.

Total joke. These guys have always lied about their achievements in education. Remember Omane Boamah is yet to submit the remaining list of schools removed under trees. The most absurd thing in the first list is the mention of Osu Presby Boys and Girls schools among the Greater Accra list. I grew up in Osu and attended one of the cluster of Presby schools. Boys and Girls school as we called them have never been under trees. Anyone can check from the Presby Educational Unit opposite St. Thomas Presby Primary. As for the 123 community SHS, we should save our breaths on that. No list exists. Enough of these lies and incompetence. I am for change
All of you lambasting are out of order go to facebook and one Christopher had posted the full list of all the 123 with regional and district location. I am so disappointed in the AMETOR on such a journey that he has to go AESC their are project consultants for all country projects and he is going to education ministry.
Ametor, God don see you now! This same lies fill the pages of their green book. Pls NDC people respect us a little and stop the lies and propaganda.
What is lazy journalism about this? Give us a list of the 123 which you say are at different levels of completion and we will go out there and fact-check your list! And now they 'can't find' any list? I believe it's safe to say there is no list! Neither are the schools at any stages of completion! It's a hoax!
No you have taken your thinking cap out and you can't reason because of your loyalty to the ndc. The journalist are not sitting asking him to provide the list but because the fact are not there. The president and his party are all liers. Do you think if it was true the journalist won't have got that information?
Journalist are trained to look for stories back by facts but not sit in the comfort of their offices and be asking for story to write. If you actually want to know where the school are situated you simply ask for the list from the right sources which in his case Ministry of Works and Housing and the Ministry of Education from there you set out to locate the cites as listed in the list given to you. I wonder if Ghanaian Journalist you to watch BBC, CNN and ALJASERA reporters on the war front looking for news to report on In Ghana today we have some few journalist who are making us proud -Kwesi Pratt Jr, KSM, Anas A., Kwoku Sakyi Addo etc.
Ametor, what cock and bull story is this. Did you think carefully through this before coming on air? You and your NDC people are lying all over the place. Ghana is a small country so you should be able to tell straightaway where there are ongoing projects.
There are so many intellectuals in the Volta Region. Why can't they reason up and they still follow this propaganda NDC party because of tribe. The thing is they know very well that they are telling lies. See how Aetor Kwami is lying to his people and exposing himself as a liar. Whaaat! Where is your credibility as a person. Oh Ghana.
ametor dont worry your legs and tax payers money for fuel you are too old for lies. maybe you can lie the volta people not all ghanaians
You can ***barred word*** some people all the time but can't ***barred word*** all the people all the time.
