The flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) should abide by electoral laws and declare his assets if he is not corrupt, governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign Coordinator Kofi Adams has said.
“Nana Addo is being given the opportunity to declare his assets if he says he is not corrupt. Why is he hiding under not being a public officer?” Mr. Adams questioned.
According to him, “The C.I. that governs elections has an aspect which talks about asset declaration. Indeed, it was based on that section that the Electoral Commission (EC) was reminding people, including private citizens who want to contest elections, to do so.”
Mr. Adams raised these concerns during an interview with Prince Minkah on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Thursday September 29.
Mr. Adams insisted: “The president (Mr. Mahama) has declared his assets long ago.” According to the National Organiser of the NDC, the Three-time presidential nominee of the NPP should follow the example of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and also declare his assets. “He should come and tell Ghanaians what they are running away from, he and his running mate.”
As part of the requirements for the filing of nominations ahead of the 2016 elections, the EC has requested presidential and parliamentary aspirants to declare their assets, but the acting General Secretary of the NPP says there is no law that mandates that request.
“You do not have to do it if you are not a public officer. The law on which the EC even gave the directions is a law that has been repealed. So it is not applicable…” he indicated on the same radio programme.
He emphasised that what Mr. Akufo-Addo will do is to “file his tax returns” but will not declare his assets.

A Kotokoli man, besides a Togolese national , as alleged by Wayome, calling himself Kofi! A fowl can never be guineafowl. Hmmmmmmmmm
Kofi Adams the Togolese should tell John Mahama who is a public office holder to declare his sto1.1en assets. Leave Nana alone he is not a public office holder. This is common sense.... This is not the first time we are holding elections in this country. I blame the alata EC woman. Did John Mahama declared his assets in 2012?
Kofi Adams, you have gravely misfired. The EC was trying to invoke a non-existent (and non-applicable) law and Nana will not compromise with such an illegality. As of now, Nana is not a Public Office Holder and does not need to file an Assets Declaration form, period. Th EC itself appears confused and ought to be corrected by knowledgeable people, not propagandists like you. Go and read the law again before you come out to demonstrate your ignorance.
It seems NDC as a party is still wary of Kofi Kotokoli Adams, ever since his famous tape leaked which betrayed the party , and led to his suspension. Since his reinstatement, information about the part has been scurry to him because of his past records. He is therefore trying hard to be seen by attacking Nama Addo all times. Since his reinstatement, has never talk on an issue without attacking Nana Addo.
Are you also ready to declare your building you used tax payers money to build. Go to your hometown and leave us alone. Why are you afraid of Nana Akufo Addo so much.
Kofi Adams, what sort of backward argument is this. Is that what the law states. This law applies to public office holders and I wonder what he is expected to declare.
THAT IS CLEAR ENOUGH, THE MAN IS CORRUPT TO THE CORE. AND IF HE DOUBT THESE ASSERTIONS HE SHOULD CALL OFF THE BLUFFS.
