Spokesperson for the Electoral Commission (EC), Eric Dzakpasu has disclosed that about 15.8 million Ghanaians are registered voters in this year's general elections.
Eric Dzakpasu explained in an interview with sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that the number is not fixed.
He further noted that the 2016 elections will held in about 29,000 polling stations across the country.
When asked about the controversies surrounding the special voting process by the EC, the EC spokesperson dismissed claims that the EC gives seals to political parties to lock up the ballot boxes.
According to him, the electoral laws permit that the parties place a seal on the boxes for authentication of the ballots but never does the EC play a role.
He added that parties are allowed to place their own seals so as to avoid any conflicts that may arise regarding the ballots.
Mr. Dzakpasu further indicated that the special voting will be held on Thursday, December 1.
