The special voting exercise in the Jaman North constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, has kicked started amidst protests that the voter list is bloated.
The exercise, on Thursday morning, was delayed for almost two hours because the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had detected names of students on the voter list and said they would not allow the exercise to commence without a new list.
According to the NDC executives, the voter list given them by the Electoral commission had names of sixty students from the Sampa Nurses Training College that was ignored by the district electoral officer, Diana Asamoah, when her attention was drawn to it on Thursday.
Peace FM's Emmanuel Henryson Okrah reports that when he contacted Madam Diana Asamoah, the district Electoral officer, she declined to give him details of the issue.
As at 8:00 am today, the voting process had not yet commenced, meanwhile, 70 voters were in a queue waiting to cast their ballot.
It took Police intervention to calm down situation at the polling center when the Electoral officer pushed for the said list to be used.
At 8:20 am, the political parties resolved to use the list despite the controversies.
