The managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has commended President John Mahama and President-elect Nana Addo for their show of maturity.
According to him, President Mahama showed maturity when he conceded defeat in a ‘dignified’ way and Nana Addo also showed maturity when he asked his supporters to stay calm and wait for the EC to declare the results.
“What a mark of statesmanship; what dignity…I salute President John Dramani Mahama for making all of us proud again. I want us to also congratulate President-elect Akufo Addo. He has displayed a certain measure of maturity which I haven’t seen for a long time.
Kwesi Pratt's comment follows Nana Akufo Addo's victory and President Mahama's concession of defeat after results from the 2016 election were announced.
Nana Akufo Addo polled 5,716,020 votes representing 53.85 percent to beat the incumbent President John Dramani Mahama who got 4,713,277 votes representing 44.04 percent of total votes cast.
Total votes casts in the 2016 presidential elections was 10,781, 609.
Prior to the declaration of results, some NPP supporters who were sure that their candidate had won the presidential elections started agitating especially as the EC was 'delaying' in declaring the results. As a result, Nana Addo held a press conference and asked them to be calm, respect the law and allow the Electoral Commission to formerly declare the results.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday, the renowned journalist said: "I took my time and listened to the concession address of his Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and I couldn't be prouder. Matured; very very matured statement of concession; he even refused to go into his legacy and said he was leaving that to history and that he will allow history to judge him. He unreservedly and it appears to me; sincerely congratulated Akufo Addo. I mean what a mark of statesmanship; what dignity...President John Mahama is leaving office in dignity; complete dignity. I salute President John Mahama for making us proud again".
"I want us to also congratulate President-elect, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo; he has displayed a measure of maturity; a certain level of maturity which I haven't seen for a long time. Nana Addo spoke to the media and said four important things (after supporters started agitating): that the mandate to declare elections is reserved to the Electoral Commission; that he has full confidence in the electoral commission; that nobody should engage in activities which will disturb the peace of Ghana and that Ghana was more important than any person and four; he called on his supporters to go back home and wait for the appropriate time when the electoral commission will declare the results. What more can anybody expect? This is the level of maturity which deserves very high commendation and I am very happy that Nana Akufo Addo has started on this note of maturity; it is very significant" Kwesi Pratt added.

You should hide your head with its protruding teeth in the sand. After telling the world that Nana Addo is a drug user so he is not fit to rule the country you are now congratulating him. Find something better to do because he is not going to pay you Dollars to insult anyone on radio. Ghanaians are much clever now than 4 years ago.
Shame, shame, shame, Kwasi Pratt! What happened to the ambulances you said some people would need after the election results had been announced? You are a disgrace!!
It took ex prez mahama too long to concede, tension was hiking up all over the country telling their supporters they have won the election and he mahama was leading. But the writings was clearly written on the wall that he has indeed lost the election and had no other option than to concede late on...what they humanly planed with the ec to manipulate the results failed woefully considering the fact that Nana Addo was way ahead with a million votes...it didnt come as a surprise when he later congratulated his opponent. He created unnecessary tension but we thank God for the peace at last
Pratt Akwasi a major player in the planning and ***barred word*** of Ghana's purse by looter Mahama and lootee Woyome I remember, said something about heart attack something, something. Where is it?
Massa; Kwesi Pratt this demaon and a satanic bastard should be barred from PeaceFM/ Kokokrokoo programme ; he can always go and commebnt on Radio Gold ; A MAN WITHOUT SHAME AND A THIFF WHO RECEIVED PART OF THE WOYOME LUTT !!!!!
Kwesi Pratt, you have seen your smoothness level. We didn't have any heart attacks and no ambulances. Will you want to defend that?
I know some people like Pratt will compare how Mahama conceded to 2008 and 2012 without consider the difference of the two. let me show you the difference. for 2008 and 2012 the winner got to know it after the last constituency result, but for the 2016 after the 50 constituencies it was cleared who has won. so Mahama even delayed to concede.
What prophet? this Asante foooooo000l you called him prophet. Every good thinker knew that NDC is going to loose the election. However, as a fante man I was thinking that all the development Mahama did in Central Region my people will vote for him but I do not know that my people are the most fooooooo0000ls in Ghana. Is only my fante foooooooooooo000ls that will vote for Asante foooooo000ls to rule them, and this Asante foooo000ls will turn and called them jokers. Ewe people will not do that. They feel pround for their people but my Central Fante foooooo000ls

You again, hypocrite, we know you well. Whether a certain measure on maturity was displayed or not, God has spoken. Kwasi Pratt, get thee behind the President Elect. God has spoken and Ghana shall rise and shine again.
