Three embattled suspended executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have their status revoked in the coming months, Joy News has gathered.
Former NPP General Secretary, Ohene Ntow told Joy News President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has served a notice to the party's National Council to have the three reinstated.
“We have had our very first joint National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meeting and he [Akufo-Addo] emphasized that that matter is presently being going to be handled,” he said.
Suspended NPP Chairman, Paul Afoko; General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, and First Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe were not part of the party’s victory in last two weeks Wednesday’s polls.
The three have been on suspension for close to a year after the party’s NEC found them culpable of actions it considered as a misdemeanor. The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) had based part of its campaign messages on the disunity in the NPP.
President John Mahama had told Ghanaians on his campaign trails that a mandate for a party that is not united would be fatal for the future of the country. He unleashed attacks on the NPP leader as someone who was not peaceful, not a uniter and not people-loving. Ghana needs a unifier, not a divisive Akufo-Addo, Mr Mahama said of the NPP leader who swept the December 7, election.
But after the Presidential election, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 53.86 percent of the valid vote cast against 44.40 recorded by President Mahama. Mr Ntow who had spoken against the suspension of the three said he was happy the President-elect has shown the preparedness to end the infighting.
"He has given an indication that NEC and National Council has taken a cue and will deal with the matter sooner or later," he said.

This if it's true, then it's a bad move. Nana Addo is digging his own Grave. I hope it's not true, but if it's, then we are all doom.
Nana Ntow himself is even lucky he could attend the victory celebration. He is as dangerous as those suspended executives.I wish such people are not rewarded for their Judas behavior. When majority of Ghanaians wanted a change of govt they were fighting against change
I AM ALL FOR RECONCILIATION BUT IT MUST BE DONE WITH GREAT CARE. ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY. THE PARTY MUST NOT MAKE A MISTAKE OF LETTING THEM ANY WHERE NEAR THE INTIMATE SECRETS OF THE DAY TO DAY RUNNING OF THE PARTY ESPECIALLY THE RUNNING OF OUR ELECTIONS. PLEASE THEY CAN BE PART OF THE PARTY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE BUT NOT INTO THE INNER CIRCLE.
