Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh has cast a sneer at the government for its refusal to allow Former President Mahama keep his old residence as part of his 'retirement package'.
Government has refused a request sent by the Former Chief of Staff of the Former President, Julius Debrah for Former President Mahama to keep his residence as President.
The residence, bungalow No.3, situated at Prestige Link, Cantonments in Accra, has been designated as official accommodation for the country’s Vice-Presidents but was still inhabited by the former President becoming President of Ghana.
This has rendered Vice President Dr Bawumia 'homeless' and has been compelled to lodge at 'Australia house'.
In a tweet via her personal Twitter handle, Hannah Tetteh described Australia House, the official residence of former Vice President Amissah Arthur as bigger than where former President Mahama currently resides and shared images of the place as prove.
"Australia House, official residence of former V. President which is bigger than where former President Mahama currently resides" she tweeted.
Currently, Former President Mahama is entitled to 40 percent of his monthly salary as an allowance for his accommodation and staff which includes a steward, cook and gardener.

Hannah, what is wrong is wrong. This is not the time for NDC bullish attitude. It is time for the laws to work. What is your problem? Mind you the ExVeep lived in a house that belonged to Bank of Ghana. Is this the reason why you want to see all Ghanaians as illiterates? Let us build strong institutions and not strong people. Bawumia should move into the house as Mahama moves out. After Bawumia's term of office, he would also move out. This should not be difficult to do. What ever additions and value Mahama added to the property, they were paid for by the tax payers money. Ex Prez John Dramani Mahama don't add lizard ***barred word*** to your fine nature.
This is crazy that we should be paying all these people after end of service. Who retires after 4 years of service? We have people collecting this every 4 years. Such payments should be paid to those leaving and not a systematic way of enriching people. Ministers and parliamentarians in rich nations are travelling by public transport, paying their own rent, paying their own domestic staff and we (Ghana)indebted to the brim are still dishing out monies for people who do not deserve this waste. These monies can be used for much better things. I hope this process will be scrapped in the very near future.
Not a classy house & folks making noise. Hannah did you noticed that now. Sometimes you wonder why such minds were gverning the Country.
I don't understand why an ex-president ?is supposed to be given a house. What is that? This is corruption in another form. Who works for 4 years and go home with a house? Only in Ghana. And Hanna Tetteh's explanation is childish. I don't support anyone receiving a house---Kufour, Mills, Mahama, Akufu-Addo, Bawumiah, etc. Period!
@Tom, hahahahahahah, can't stop laughing. You've said it all. She should know better.
please madam you should know that the property is for Bank of Ghana Governor but not Vice president, where JM IS STAYING IF FOR VICE PRESIDENT.SO DONT CONFUSE PEOPLE.
Hannah ur bottos is bigger than that of George Andah why did the people of Awutu Senya vote for him instead of u..? pls tell your president to comfortably lead himself out of the building.
It is rather unfortunate that ex-president would put himself into this situation. it worries me a lot. You see the NPP is blowing this loud to cover up for the plagiarism which completely displayed their incompetence right at the start of Office. President please contact me. I will give you a good place to reside though small.
Whether bigger or small, he must obey before complain. Hannah please tell your boss to vacate ok. After buying houses for others, you don't want to leave.
