The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has petitioned the diplomatic community against what it believes are deliberate attacks on its members, allegedly by supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), following the latter’s victory in the last presidential and parliamentary elections.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Koku Anyidoho, told the Daily Graphic that the decision to petition the international community had become necessary because the party did not want to be blamed for any chaotic scenes that might arise due to the attacks on its members.
NDC on attacks
It will be recalled that the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Kofi Portuphy, in the company of some national executives of the party at a press conference last week, blamed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the development.
He said, among other things, that "Nana Akufo-Addo's lack of positive and unifying leadership skills as an opposition leader seriously wounded the NPP. Never should he mislead himself into believing that Ghanaians shall allow him to wound and divide this dear country of ours.”
"The beastly conduct of Nana Akufo-Addo's Invincible Forces will no longer be countenanced. We are calling on civil societies, religious bodies, the media and the international community not to blame the NDC if the unacceptable conduct of Akufo-Addo’s Invincible Forces leads to reprisal attacks.”
Petition
Mr Anyidoho said since the attacks continued unabated, the party had taken the matter a step further by petitioning the diplomatic community.
Mr Anyidoho said: “It is true; we have done what is right and proper by petitioning the diplomatic community for them to also be aware of what is going on in the country, that Invincible Forces are vandalising state properties and attacking innocent Ghanaians.”
“We want them to know what is happening so that they would not blame the NDC for any mishap if the unfortunate situation is not brought under control by the government. So, yes, we have done the right thing by petitioning the diplomatic community.”
“We have made the same appeal to our local institutions. At least Dr Opuni Frimpong has come out on behalf of the Christian Council of Ghana after we succeeded in piling pressure on him, although he did not want to comment on the matter initially. We are just making sure that we leave no stone unturned by petitioning the diplomatic community,” he stated.

As for NPP all they know is insult, we are watching you no condition is permanent.
THE RAT IS RUNNING FOR COVER
Good move, and I hope they would be sincere to tell the foreign missions that, their supporters did worse in 2009! The NPP government should watch these evil NDC people well, they have populated the security agencies, like the military and the police, so they could use that to foment trouble!
Teacher Wee Koku Ayidoho u sometimes amuse yourself with this kind of tricks. Look those doing the attack are not NPP members. It is NDC members who have been organised to do so to create the impression that NPP are lawless Party. Teacher Wee Koku Ayidoho Ghanaian are now wide awake and will not believe your kind of propaganda which u have specialize in. With this kind of attitude that u are putting up, NDC is going to be in opposition for a long, long time. Just mark it on the wall.
Quite an irresponsible action on the part of the NDC.
Koku Anyidoho, relax the diplomatic corps knows NDC as a more notorious party so your petition would not make them change their mind on NPP.They were in the country when Mills came power and your supporters seize toilets, rampaging office to the extend that Hon Victor Smith, the current high commissioner to UK,seizing peoples'cars and he mistook the then managing director of standard chartered bank vehicle and later he apologised. When we talk of violence, stealing of public funds, misappropriation of government resources and monopolising of public property NDC.Koku do not cry foul so early because very soon the money Woyome gave you will be retrieved.
Time changes ooo. When NDC supporters threw stones into Nana Addo's residence 2 weeks to election, and USA and UK ambassadors spoke and advised NDC leaders, they were insulted and vilified by Koku, Ofosu Kwakye, Kofi Adams and Omane Boamah. I remember exactly what Ofosu Kwakye said about Jon Benjamin on Newsfile on Joy FM. NDC, you don't have shame kraa? Even if people are attacked at Passport Office, should they be assumed to be NDC members? Why are you not calling on Ghana Police to act but rather diplomatic community? I still find it hard to see the people who have been attacked. Are they ghosts? Parade them on TV from their hospital beds?
Is this Guy well at all? His facial look or skin is terrible. It saddens me when people like this go on insult spree all the time denegrating respectable people in Ghanaian society. Where is his wife? He looks awful
Koku. since wgen did you recognize the christian council and diplomats. When you visit their iffices they will show you Agbogblosie massacre pictures, the Akwatia shootings, the Anita Desoso Rambo display at Atiwa and the chereponi shootings. Koku, you didnt even cough. Were you deaf or blind by then? Now that it's going against you you have found you eyes, ears and voice. Anyway, I also expect Nana Addo to order the security ssrvices to deal ruthlessly with those involved. But, Koku is not the one to talk because he sat unconcerned when henios crimes were perpetrated against npp faithfuls. HYPOCRITE!
Koku Anyidoho have no shame in calling on the diplomatic corps. The very people you villified in your numerous press conferences. The clergy. Church leaders and traditional leaders yoj curb them in. I quite remember what some of the ndc mps including hon sampson Arhi did to them just for speaking out their mind , you clothed them wirh insult prof Martey, Opuni , Otabil etc. Where are your police and men now?. Bad faith.
