Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has urged President Akufo-Addo and his government not to revert the name Flagstaff House to Jubilee House.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the government will become a laughing stock of the nation should it change the name.
According to him, the name “Flagstaff House” is a relic of the colonial era of the State and so reflects Ghana's historic background.
Mr. Baako alluded to the regime of Ghana's First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who he said left the Flagstaff House untouched for peculiar reasons.
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he stated, wanted to portray the rich history of the nation and so felt the name, Flagstaff House, should remain.
Mr. Baako advised the Nana Addo government to keep the Flagstaff House, stressing the name change is the best at this time.
He explained that the Kufour administration's naming of the seat of government as Jubilee House was in the right direction because the establishment of the edifice was occasioned by Ghana's 50th anniversary.
However, President Akufo-Addo shouldn't attempt to rename the seat of government (Flagstaff House) to Jubilee House but rather "leave it the way it is now. Changing it to Jubilee House only deepens the ridicule. I sound contradictory. I agree the Jubilee was the right name. It should have been left intact. We didn’t do that. Change it again, we look ridiculous.”

i agree with Kwaku Baako
Jubilee House is more appropriate since the castle is there to serve the colonial purpose others desire. The jubilee commemoration reinforces independence distinguishing what we have built differently from the colonial administration
@ Kwaku Yeboah, i think i share your view and respect your suggested names,Presidential Palace could be good for all times. Now to my fellow Ghanaians, Is name changing what we nee now? The dollar with just one head on it is running faster that our cedi with 6 heads plus yaa asantewa sef, utility bills are not funny, fuel is now equivalent to blood and standard of living is getting out of hands and legs. We have gotten time to change names ? eeeeiiiii Ama Ghana. A dog is a dog whether you call it saakwa or brut. Cant we have our priorities right for a second ?
Hello Ghanaians. I think the issue is very simple. The Presidency as it stands now is made up of the Jubilee House and the renovated Flag Staff House. We may wish to let the VP occupy the FSH so his office will be referenced to same. The President's Office can then solely be referenced to Jubilee House. The clearly then, still leaves us with the situation to find an appropriate culturally-meaningful name for our entire Presidency. Hello Kweku, I do not share you view as is.
With all the confusion just call it either of the following i. Ghana House ii. Presidential Palace or House iii. Omanpanin asuay3 or fie iv. Black Star House v. Government House
Shame. You juju occultist
I don't know the disappointment in President Kuffour's heart over this. People don't feel for him? How can someone put up a project for the nation for someone to change the name? People! think about this,He could have also built party headquarters for his party but he built for the nation.Oh Blackman think!
For once Mr baako spoke sense
I disagree with Mr Baako on the renaming of the Presidency. HE President Kuffour explained the reason for the name and I believe it has serious spiritual implications. The year of Jubilee has so much spiritual implication. It was not for nothing that the nation discovered oil in commercial quantities in 2007, the year of our jubilee. Flagstaff house stands for our colonial past and Jubilee House stands for new beginnings full of blessings. The name must Change now to the Jubilee House.
