The chairman of the GOIL Board of Directors is accusing president Nana Akufo-Addo of breaching procedures in his appointment of a new Chief Executive officer of the company.
In a statement issued today, Board Chairman, William Asumaning noted that the president did not follow due procedures in his new appointment of the GOIL CEO.
He is convinced the president did not follow due procedures in his new appointment of the GOIL CEO, and stressed that GOIL is a public listed company on the Ghana Stock Exchange with its own regulations which makes it impossible for the president to appoint or remove a CEO without observing the necessary procedures.
The statement is in reaction to media reports on Friday that President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Mr. Osei Prempeh as new GOIL CEO.
But Mr Asumaning stated emphatically that GOIL "is not aware of the observance of such processes".

STATEMENT BY GOIL BOARD ON APPOINTMENT OF A NEW CEO
Information available to the GOIL Board per a publication on Ghanaweb on Friday, the 24th of February, 2017 captioned "Nana Addo Picks New Heads for Forestry Commission, Ghana Health Service and GOIL" indicates that the new CEO appointed for GOIL is one Mr. Osei Prempeh.
The Board would like to draw the attention of the SHAREHOLDERS and the public to the fact that GOIL is a public listed company on the Ghana Stock Exchange with its own Regulations. The Regulations state the process through which a CEO can be appointed or removed.
The Board would like to state emphatically that it is not aware of the observance of such processes as stated in the regulations leading to the appointment of any CEO and that we as a Board have not made any such appointment.
SIGNED.
Prof. William Asumaning (Board Chairman)

Board Chairman, whether you like it or not your turner of chairmanship is coming to an end. you can go to heal
Why at all is NPP behaving like a military government?
Mr Chairman is absolutely right! H.E.Mr President needed to inquire from GOIL Board of Directors before making steps towards appointing ..Mr Prempeh. Ghanaian s let's face the facts. This should not be politics....is clear!! Rather insulting leaders whom are older than us. it's not easy to manager even our own families Than to condemn anyone else
These Board Chairmen and Executive Directors in Public organisations with majority shareholdings by the government have mis-informed and misguided notion that this government is not aware of the incompetence and corruption in these public organisations because Nana Addo is not that NAIVE in public affairs like Jon Mahama ; they know where all the rotten apples are and will up root them like cassva ; this misguided and uless 'PROF' talks about Rules and Regulations of Goil but does not tell the public what basic tenets these regulations are but seem to believe that since it is a public listed organisation; the board can be a law unto themselves and nobody have the right to question or interfere in what they do -WRONG !!!!!!;the full should go and read the enormous powers arrrogated to the President under the constitution ; he should take the example of Mr Opuni at Cocoa Board; besides such decision was taken in the context of the law ;Nana Addo is the 'Mr Law' President and knows what he is doing ; all Board members and CEO's SHOULD TAKE NOTICE !!!!!!
Mr. Board Chairman who is the majority shareholder? Do Govt communicates to you through newspaper report?Wouldn't it have been to go and see the Chief of Staff and discuss this issue. You have expose yourself to be an NDC MAN bent on taking on the President and you will surely lose prof.
Who is the majority shareholder of GOIL...?? Just wait till they starting auditing your books.. Cor*u**pt Chair..
Why didn't the President first dissolve the board? If he would have done so, they would not have been making this typical NDC statement.
"Professor of Oil and Gas? Oh this so called Ghanaian professors!
The state is the majority share holder of GOIL, so the president should immediately dissolve the so-called board of directors
How was this board chairman appointed? By shareholders or by prez mahama? I smell insubordination
