Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has condemned critics who have argued that government is running away from its promises.
He has argued that government has not spent up to a year in office and the tenure of the president is four years, hence promises made by government are to be fulfilled within that period.
“Every political party has a four-year cycle. We have done a one-year budget out of four, so, if I make 10 pledges and in one budget I fulfil six and [then] you say I am running away from pledges?” he questioned.
He said the manifesto presented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a four-year manifesto and going forward “we will tackle other problems”.
For him, “if anyone thinks that all the pledges by government will be fulfilled in one year, then you are being utopian”.
He was responding to issues raised by the Minority and other commentators over problems not addressed in the budget presented by the Finance Minister recently.
In an interview with Accra-based Joy FM on Friday, 10 March, Mr Osafo Marfo was optimistic the Akufo-Addo government will fulfil most of its campaign promises.

EVIL NDC WILL WANT YOU TO DO WHAT THEY COULDN'T DO IN 8YRS IN 2 MONTHS. DON'T MIND THEM. WE ARE PROUD OF WHAT NPP UNDER NANA ADDO IS DOING AND WILL DO FOR GHANA. BUT PLEASE, LET NDC RENDER FULL ACCOUNT FOR THEIR 8YRS WICKEDNESS AND GRAFT. LET THE FORENSIC AUDIT ROLL OUT IN EVERY SECTOR AND THOSE FOUND CULPABLE PAY DEARLY FOR THEIR EVIL DEEDS WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOR!
Mr. Marfo, hold your breadth as these promises cannot be fulfilled within two months. The first budget of this government has created the road map for achieving the promises. The government can only be evaluated after their four years.
Osafo dont mind them wai it is a gradual process so am surprise in just 2months dont want to see the magic of NPP whiles they were given 8years and we saw not even quarter of their promises so dawg then cos Ghanaians trust Nana to deliver and that is why they gave the huge marginal differnce in the election
It is those who said they are "in a comfortable lead"who are saying the NPP ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM THEIR PROMISES. THESE SAME NDC CHAPS PROMISED BUILDING 200 SCHOOLS IN 4 YEARS BUT ENDED UP BUILDIG 42 SCHOOLS OUT OF 200 IN 4 YEARS YET THAY HAVE THE EFFRONTERY TO BE ACCUSING THE NPP WHO IS ONLY 2 MONTHS 3 DAYS IN POWER TO FULFILL PROMISES MEANT FOR 4 YEARS. THANK GOD THE VOTING PUBLIC IS WATCHING THEM CLOSELY.
