The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gonjaland Youth Association Mr Mahama Haruna has called on government to apologise to the Paramount Chief of the Tuluwe Traditional Area, Tuluwewura Rashid Sulemana Mahama Bonyansa (I) for what he said is the humiliation the Tuluwewura went through when his house was raided by National Security operatives from the Northern Regional Coordinating Council.
Mr Mahama said a group of people claiming to be National security operatives from the Regional Coordinating Council in a brazen manner invaded the residence of the Tuluwewura told him they were there to take his landcruiser which they claim belong to the state believed to be one of the stolen government landcruiser vehicles.
“I see the action of the so-called security operatives as an embarrassment not only to the Tuluwewura but the entire Gonja Kingdom. The Tuluwewura is not a politician but a Traditional ruler who should have been accorded some respect instead of the way his house was invaded attracting onlookers from the surrounding houses” he bemoaned.
The Gonjaland PRO said it baffled him that the so-called security operatives are not aware that every member of the Council State is given a vehicle on loan to be deducted from his salary in four years and that the Tuluwewura’s deduction ended in November 2016 meaning he now owns the vehicle.
He said the Tuluwewura was a member of the Council of State of Ghana from January 2013 to December 2016 and is one of five paramount chiefs of the Gonja area that can become Yagbonwura (paramount Chief of the entire Gonja) and so respected by Gonjas.
“This issue must be investigated and those who went to the Tuluwewura’s residence brought to book. Can anyone claiming to be a National Security operative go the residence of any Asante or Dagomba paramount Chief to “seize” his car?” he asked.

Gov't must apologise to the Tuluwewura The action of the supposed National Security Operative is very premature, ill-intended and unacceptable. It is a high time we hold our institutions responsible for their actions and inactions. Peoples cannot be going about harassing everyone all in the name of taking orders or working in the interest of the nation when in the actual sense they are executing the I'll agenda of their so call pay masters. They should note that Gonjas are one of the genuine people you can find in Ghana simply because we are proud of who we are. With that pride, we prefer to die telling the truth than to lye. We revere our chiefs so much because they are who we are. If not for an orchestrated plan to demean and to undignify his persona, how can an institution that claim to represent the security eye of the country with modern Intel not be privy to the fact that he was a member of Council of elders from 2013 to 2016 and is entitled to take a loanable vehicle. This is a vehicle he can afford on his own financial muscle if even if they were not given those vehicles and deducted the money from his salary. That action is clear mischief and must render an unqualified apology to Tuluwewura and for that matter Gonjas. We can't sit and watch this injustice continued as meted out to Tuluwewura.
