Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has jumped to the defense of the former COCOBOD CEO, Dr. Opuni Frimpong over his GHC70, 000 monthly salary.
He could not fathom why some politicians and section of the public have descended heavily on the former COCOBOD boss after details of his salary went viral.
According to him, Dr. Opuni is not the only public chief executive officer in the country earning that amount.
“Why single out Dr Opuni when other public chief executive officers are taking huge salaries even more than Opuni and the President. The issue should not be centered on him. It is important that we look at the real issue and how to deal with it and stop this pettiness” he stated.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr’s comment follows anger by some Ghanaians after an unverified list detailing the huge salaries of some public chief executive officers in the country went viral.
The disclosure of the whopping GHC70,000 monthly salary paid Dr. Stephen Opuni by the new board chairman of the COCOBOD, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman has generated massive public outcry.
Mr. Owusu-Agyemang has subsequently disclosed that the new CEO of the state facility has agreed to be paid half of the salary paid his predecessor.
But commenting on the issue, on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday, Mr Pratt asked the nation not to be quick to jump in to conclusions over the matter.
He maintained that, the amount of money paid an individual is not an issue if his or her job brings huge returns to the state.
Kwesi Pratt believes the only solution to such problem is for Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to begin rationalizing wages and salaries of public institutions.
“It’s the duty of Fair Wages & Salaries Commission to regulate salaries. Equity, justice and fair play should be at the center of salary payment. Many workers earn less than they deserve” he stated.

And how much will Hackman receive as sitting allowance at cocobod. It was shear hypocrisy to attack Opuni. Evil men
Till when will this ***barred word*** called kwasi pratt stop defending what the devil(satan)couldn't defend? what kind of huge returns can a CEO a lone bring that would deserve this huge monthly salary of 70,000? If such defends does not, one day it will result into total chaos in the country. How can one person receive such an amount as a monthly salary whiles someone's total retirement benefit is less than 10,000? This non sense must stop with immediate effect else some of will not sit down for it to continue
Pls Nana Addo kindly review the single spine salary structure for us. I beg you in the name of God almighty because there is no equity at all. The pharmacy group and teachers are the worse of.
the unfairness in Ghana especially when it comes to salaries and wages is very sad. teachers pay is very poor and even our retirement package is not upto a month salary of a CEO in Ghana. if u're a teacher then you need to cry paaaa! but in all I blame the gnat and nagrat leaders;they are selfish! God will severely punish some leaders in Ghana.
What else do you want him to say. He is always defending his paymasters. You don't know this guy called Kwesi Pratt Jnr.He is very furious that NPP is in power now that will surely made him to be making those utterances.
The problem is Kwasi doesn't understand the issue at stake but would not keep mute. That why some call him Mr know all.
Kwesi Pratt often argues this way: this is not the first time something has happened; he is not the only one who is this or that situation. I wish he had also argued for productivity from the CEO. CEO emoluments are often performance based. How was Opuni performing in his job? Abysmal
it does not maatter the amount he takes a month.that is why ghanaians kicked this people out.fix our problems for us by providing more jobs and stabilization of the cedi.
No wonder, Mr Know-All Kwesi Pratt with sharp teeth will always justify Dr Opuni's ungodly salary. This is preposterous and Kwesi knows that but problem is that these YOUNG PIONEERS are ***barred word*** minded people who have addiction for telling lies and Kwesi is no exception. Sooner or later, he will explain the connection between him and Woyome which surprisingly he has not explained to Ghanaians. NPP will deal with all the unscrupulous ***barred word***.
