Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu says the brouhaha surrounding the news of some MPs allegedly engaging in visa fraud is needless.
According to him, he sees nothing wrong if the Members of Parliament use their position to sponsor their ‘close relatives’ in terms of visa acquisition.
“I am just being raw on this matter. This is not a case we should make a big fuss about…it is not like they have made it their business”.
The British government has blacklisted three current serving MPs and a former MP from making an entry into the UK.
A "confidential letter" signed by the British High Commissioner, Jon Benjamin and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye accused the MPs of "Visa fraud".
The MPs are said to have facilitated the entry of some of their relatives to the UK using their diplomatic passports and leaving them to live there illegally.
Speaking to the issue during a panel discussion on Friday’s edition of PeaceFM's ‘Kokrokoo’, John Boadu sought to find out from the British High Commissioner through which visa he (Benjamin) gained access into the country.
"....as public servants or people in public offices, you need to be careful with matters like this because it is a potential source for major difficulty for you as a politician…I don’t believe it is a major issue for you to write such a lenghty letter about it…. I am just being raw on this matter. This is not a case we should make a big fuss about…it is not like they have made it their business. I will go against it strongly if they had profited from their position as MPs by facilitating visa acquisition for scores of personalities, but with this; they are just close relatives,” John Boadu stated.

Frankly ; your response to Jon Boadu's piece tell how evil and hypocritical the British are ; our leaders come to the UK to beg for cash because it you the British using the old book tactics to condone the lutting of Ghana for years ; for Mr Boadu is correct because there is a motive behind this initiative ; Mr Benjamin is makng a fuss about nothing; WHAT ABOUT THE FRUAD IN THE UK PARLIAMENT !!!because this holier than the POPE and GOd should STOP !!! What this court clown jester from the court of St Jame's should understand is that MP's or individual supporting visa applications to the Uk have been going on for years before this Court jewish jester was born ; let's look at the facts of visa applications to UK ; about 10% of the population of Ghanaians have found their way to the UK or US by obtaining visa through the support of their families ;frineds ; doctors ; MP's and even former heads of State to obtain visa's for their frineds and families ; most of these people have never returned but have managed to settle in the UK or the US ; these people today contribute to the economy of Ghana by sending cash to their relatives besides we know of cases where there have been fraudulent visa dealing amongst clearance officers at the UK embassy of which the staff were recalled back to the and desciplined ; the fact is this visa racket did not start today so why suddenly this mis -representation and pretence that this have just started with todays MP's ; let's examine the cost and benefit of these so called visa fraud because at the end of the day ; it is a clever ploy by the UK governmenmt to make money out of Ghanaians ; evidence shows that for every 10 people that apply for visas 7 are rejected and their fees are non re-fundable for a variety of reasons -nothing illegal about applying the your rules ; today the embassy is funded on fees charged through visa application fees paid by the people besides everybody knows the BRitish Government condones these ministers and MP visa applications to the UK because they know they go there to deposit their stolen monies but the UK government keeps mute about these things ; if they know such visa fraud have been going on for years why have they not STOPPED it ; why do they give these MP and ministers VIP treatment ; when they know the information provided by some of these ministers are false !!!!!!!; today Ghana and Nigeria are suffering from these stolen lutted monies because these embassies are not interested in the welfare of Ghanaians but prefer gto give visa to MP and ministers with the hope that they will go a nd deposit stolen monies in the UK stolen so they benefit ; MR SLAVE MASTER AND A PAEDOPHILE JUST STOP BEING A HYPOCRATE AND A LIAR !!!!!because whether you like it or not Ghana and Africa is the future !!!!!
I came to Ghana because I am your colonial master. John Boadu, you are a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul. Your leaders always come to UK to beg for money and scrub my toillllets. Do you think I will respect you? I don't care what you think. I will forever be your colonial master and you shall always be under my foot. Stuuuuuupid Beggars.
These Europeans virtually depend on us for survival and yet they always do propaganda to belittle us. Africa must rise against this type of diplomats. What is fraud about someone acquiring visa legally? If you have bashed your jerry head against a wall seek medical attention! Bomboklatss!!!
He came into the country through your mother's va.gi,na. Happy? Id.ot! When you people use your official positions to commit crime, you don't want anyone to reveal your nefarious activities.
I DON`T THINK THE GUYS WHO ARE COMMENTING ON THIS MATTER ARE OKAY. WHY ARE YOU GUYS BEHAVING LIKE INFERIOR TO THE BRITTS? MASSA LET CALL A SPADE A SPADE, IF UK HAS ANY INTEGRETY THEY WOULDN`T CHARGE VISA FEE FOR APPLICANTS THEY HAVE REFUSED. NO ONE SHOULD EVEN COMMENT ON THIS MATTER.
Can someone from the top hierarchy of both NPP and NDC tell all these leaders to ***barred word***. If your sister becomes your wife and your niece becomes your daughter, then everything is wrong here. So shut your mouths up and allow us to treat the actions of the MPs with the contempt they deserve. What kind of foolishness is this?
While I see nothing wrong with an MP applying for a visa with his relatives, I see everything wrong with misrepresenting facts on a visa application. Our law-makers should be held to a higher standard. What the MPs have done is wrong and ought to be condemned and ways found to prevent this from happening in the future. And yet, we will shoot the messenger so many times that we will not get the message. How are we supposed to develop if we get angry anytime someone points out our mistakes.
ooh john boadu, did you listen to yourself, immigration rules and laws must always to respected and you should know better as a General secretary of a party in government.
