The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba, has locked up her sick husband and refused to give him food, Northern regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has disclosed.
Mr Naabu described the Gender Minister as a “controversial” person who has refused to use her husband’s name or the title ‘Mrs’ in her endeavours.
The Northern regional Chairman’s jab is in reaction to an allegation made against him by Ms Djaba that he is a bribe-taking politician.
“… A woman who is married, the husband is a doctor, she is supposed to be called Mrs Tapan but nobody knows that Otiko is married. Whatever she does, she does it without any ‘Mrs’. The husband is sick, she has locked the husband in the house. She doesn’t give him food to eat, the man’s children are angry [and want] to go and prepare food for their father. So such a woman, is she responsible? In Tamale here everybody knows,” Mr Naabu said in an interview with Accra-based Radio XYZ.
Ms Djaba and Mr Naabu have been at each other’s neck following a supposed meeting the Gender Minister had with some women’s group in the Northern Region.
Ms Djaba accused Mr Naabu of extorting money, cows, and goats from people with the promise to secure them appointments in the Akufo-Addo government in a radio interview after Mr Naabu had interrupted her meeting with the women on Friday, 5 May.
Mr Naabu, in his defence, described the meeting as “illegal” and “unconstitutional” because she had not informed him of the meeting. He also alleged that Ms Djaba was meeting with the women to introduce her choice of School Feeding Programme coordinator to them, an allegation Ms Djaba has denied.

You just hate it when your women are learned why. please you guys should open your eyes oo and wake up from those primitive mindset the 'boko haram' mind set we are in 2017
irresponsible man, no wonder your wife feed and cloth you.
these are the kind of people ruling Ghana. We will all see. Ghana is doomed.
@joey, u see ur hypocrisy, instead of u to speak that disrespectful woman n Gbe Naabu, u want to attack me..
@ Kodjo Ansah: The use of that title is not to about building personality but as a Min responsible for Gender & Social Protection has locked-up the husband in the room and following politics. It is open there long ago that the woman is not responsible towards the husband who is ail in bed. Let's call a spade a spade. She is irresponsible on her part regarding the issue. When she was out there insulting former leaders, we called her "bold and strong woman". Now the chicken has come home to roost.
Oh police must arrest her for starving her husband o. its a crime o
What are these two public figures trying to prove to Ghanaians and the whole world? This moral incompetence being display by these two individuals is a shame. Please if you don't have anything meaningful to offer Ghanaians, don't disturb our ears. Aaaba! what is this?
THESE TWO PERSONALITIES SHOULD STOP THIS CHILDISH BEHAVIOUR AND BEHAVE AS NPP ADULTS AND NOT GIVE WAY TO NDC RIFFRAFFFFFS AS ASIEDU NKETIA AYIDOHO KOFI ADAMS AND THE REST TO BLOW THEIR HORNS.THE NPP IS HERE TO GOVERN AND NOT FIGHT AMONG THEMSELVES.
Hello Mr. Bugri Naabu. This is the Year 2017. If you still believe that not using 'Mrs' is an offence, then God indeed bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong. You have already lost the WAR with Ms. Djaba. I encouraged my wife to whom I have known since 1989 to keep her maiden name and build up her own personality and we are married by Ordinance. I feel so insulted by this accusation to Ms. Otiko Djaba and I unreservedly demand of you to apologise to me and all WOMEN. Again, this is Year 2017. It has become more than obvious that NPP has a lot of in-house education to do.
