The Majority Leader, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, says new Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are struggling to find their feet in the House.
In his assessment of the performance of the new MPs, Mr. Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu indicated that contributions by the NDC new entrants have usually been fraught with errors, fuelled by emotions, something he said, was due to the shock defeat the NDC suffered in the 2016 general election.
“It is rather the NDC MPs who are struggling in the House. I believe they are yet to recover from the shocking defeat. So, some of them are yet to make the impact,” the leader said this when he granted an interview to some journalists yesterday in Accra.
He explained that “sometimes I try to advise them, because parliamentary work is a continuous learning process. Some of them even come to me and I believe my colleagues as well, for advice and assessment of their contributions on the floor.”
Mr. Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, added that “the possibility of the NDC losing the elections never crossed the minds of these new MPs.
“The same thing happened to us when we lost the 2008 general elections, because we were confident of winning that election.”

1. Peacefm, the headline is not a true reflection of the body under review viz: majority leader not minority leader 2.The defeat is 'coup de gras' for the NDC. It was an upper cut that landed them on the ground. The insults, gargantuan spending, especially no respect for the Ghanaian, contributed massively for the defeat. I think they should sit back and reflect before coming out to take a shot at the NPP.
this is true, they NDC MPs say a lot of fuuuuuuulish and meaningless things because they are still shocked by how their own stuuuuppppidddity had floored them. I am one of them and I am still in shock. Nkwasia fuor
Abena..... the Honourable man is NOT telling lies.... his assertiion is very true. See what Suhuyini started doing in Parliament. Where is he now? He has ***barred word*** abi? Do you hear of Fiifi Fiafi Kwetey any more? NO!! Do you hear Richard Quashiga anymore? NO!!! All the leading propagandist and emotional speakers have kept quiet else they will mess up their miserable lives in the august house. The wisest thing to do if you don't know is to keep your mouth shut than to talk and expose your misery, ***barred word***!ty and hopelessness. I rest my case.
