Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for La-Dadekotopon constituency, Nii Amasah Namoale has asked the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to bite the irate youth of the Savelugu and ensure that the powers of the State are exercised in the area.
Nii Amasah Namoale, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', expressed disgust over the behaviour of the Savelugu residents.
Some angry residents of Savelugu on Thursday, June 15 had a confrontation with the Police in protest against the appointment of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the vicinity, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu.
The youth are said to have stormed the district assembly to lock the place up to prevent the MCE from accessing her office but the Police intervened and dispersed the charged youth.
Commenting on the issue, Mr. Amasah Namoale blamed the President for exhibiting laxity towards addressing the problem.
According to him, the youth have bluntly flouted the laws of the State, so President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government should act swiftly to maintain law and order in the area.
"Mr. President, where are you . . . Let the force of the State be seen in Savelugu . . . These are people who are going against the laws of the State. So, we want to see the power of the State. Don’t be toothless. Be strong.”
Also touching on the issue on 'Kokrokoo', the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Nana Boakye expressed consent to the submissions by Namoale.
He however would not have the NDC aspiring flagbearer and Presidential hopeful, Mr. Amasah Namoale, to blame President Nana Akufo-Addo over the incident.
To him, though the behaviour of the Savelugu youth is reprehensible, the laws of the country should be allowed to take its course, emphasizing the "law is the law".

The law can't be just the law if the law does not bite. Rules and laws are meant to be obeyed. As a kin supporter of the President, its about time he acted and ensured these mob actions are curbed. If the IPG is found wanting, the president will have to replace him because a lot of rowdiness are going on without the appropriate response from the police. Nana Akuffo Addo must act and not fear for the next elections. The elections will take care of itself if he works harder without fear or favor. Firstly, he the IGP will have to call for all arms in the hands of individual Ghanaians that are not authorized to have them by certain date, failing of which a combined team of police and the army will have to mount, search and retrieve arms concealed and the culprits brought to court. Next armed robbers should be shot at sight by the police. Again the president will have to give his backing to these measures by supporting the police and the military. Nana Akuffo Addo is too laid back on some of these happenings. That is not rule of law nor is it democratic. Investors will be scared away if hooliganism is not stopped. Rules are meant to be obeyed. If he the President and NPP for fear or correcting ills in society, will walk pass elections, elections will walk pass you come 2020. Nana Akuffo Addo act now and stop these unruly behavior of the youth. Crack the whip now.
Is that guy nana boakye working for Ghana or is doing npp politics on radio. He has been appointed to YEA to work for Ghana, yet every morning and afternoon he is in peacefm or Asempa talking, and leaving his job at office. The time has come for this nun sense to stop. If you communicator for npp, then resign your post and stop wasting public purse. Stay at your office.
When Dr. Nkrumah was asked about the corruption in his government he said that he believed that the only way to fight corruption is to create a strong public opinion against it. To this end, Akufo-Addo must ensure that kindergarten and primary school children across the country are taught anti-corruption poems and songs. An anti-corruption question must always appear in the BECE.
