The President of policy think tank IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe has described as deeply worrying the revelation by Information Minister Mustapha Hamid that all 110 ministers of the Akufo-Addo led-government have not been paid since assumption of office.
Mustapha Hamid in an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Saturday stated that it hasn’t been easy for ministers having to live without pay for the past five months.
“Ministers have not been paid…it’s not a very good phenomenon in our country that people get employed and after one year they are not taking salaries yet, and they happen to be teachers, nurses etc.
“So, if it’s happening to politicians, we should say that: ‘Well it’s good that it’s happening to them so that they will feel the pinch and correct the anomaly for all of us citizens’.” Sharing his opinion on the matter via a Facebook post Mr. Cudjoe said “these appointees need to eat and feed their dependants” stressing “It is not enough to say they are getting by through the grace of God and friends.”
“Is it that we don’t have the money? Even if as we are now reportedly hearing a revenue gap of almost GHS1.3bn for the quarter, we shouldn’t encourage public servants to work without being paid.
“I worry when politicians work for free. We will have to assess the reasons for the disturbing revenue performance vis-à-vis the overall revenue maximisation strategy of the government and offer helpful solutions,” he noted.

Are you reading for meaning or reading for reading seek? Is the state fueling those V8's with sand from your "sahara village"? Whether the salary is private or from the state is it not from the same coffers? Please leave the contributor alone to breath some fresh air wae!!!
The v8s are fueled by the state not by the ministers private salary. Don't you know that?
This is the biggest joke of the year. Who can convince me that these 110 minister are not receiving pay for the past five months but are driving in v8 and living in government bungalows for free. Which monies is being used to fuel their vehicles? Nana addo and his team will be worse than mahama and his team. This is a day light robbery. They are telling Ghanaians they haven't receive nothing for five months when state funds is being used for everything they do now. At the end of the day they would tell Ghanaians that the finance ministry has released money to pay them their back pays, when in actual fact they have indirectly enjoyed huge allowance for five months, which will not be accounted for. I have always known them as smart ttthieves. Can you imagine this. Teachers and others workers are watching, the very day it will come out that they have received monies the strike actions would begin.
Indeed, it is very worrying to work and not getting paid. There is no free lunch. The money to be used for such payments is filtering into some individuals pockets in some MDAs. However, their payment should not be garguantly disbursed
I have heard the deputy general secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene, other ministers and the information Minister boast about ministers not being paid since assuming office. Somehow they feel, that should let Ghanaians appreciate their good intentions to govern. However such a situation is very worrying, to say the least. There is no explanation to why they are not being paid.
@me, I agree with you on that.i am beginning to lose hope....ministers have not be paid over five months, thats worrying, what about the other promises, can npp achieve them...
Hmmm....i am npp,but nana's pending free shs policy will bring a lot of problems.we need to meet revenue targets to be able to finance that.with the revenue gap of 1.3 bn Asem oo...nana addo is over ambitious,I think the best thing was to deal with the unemployment issues first before dealing with free shs.we need more factories and jobs and the free shs should be on a pilot base and gradually nation wide.you know how the black man does his thing, pull him down mentality...so nana if u want to implement it then Massa open your eyes.Ghanaians won't forgive u if u fail.
