Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] Allotey Jacobs has said the country will face a lot of demonstrations based on some crucial decisions by President Akufo-Addo’s government.
According to him, most of the demonstrations would be from the side of unemployed graduates, who this government promised during their 2016 campaign time to create jobs.
“There will be a lot of labour demonstrations this year based on the Senior Minister’s statement on employment in the public sector,” Allotey Jacobs said.
The Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo speaking at the Ghana Economic Forum on the theme: ‘The Ghanaian-Owned Economy: 60 Years after Independence’, few days ago disclosed that “the public sector is full” and government “may even have to lay some off.”
“It is very good that the NPP is now diluting their promises, they will realize that being in opposition is hundred percent different from being in power. This will prevent them from making magnificent promises the next time they are in opposition. They better keep and remain focused.”
Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political show on the progress of President Akufo-Addo’s one district , one factory policy, Allotey noted “is this government telling us that a graduate with a political science background will meet their one district, one factory requirement? We leave to see their good works which would tremendously outweigh that of the past government as they promised in 2016.”
However, his co panelist on the show, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi , MP for Asante Akyem North opposed his submission saying “I don’t know why we want to run away from the truth, the Senior Minister did nothing wrong but just made known to us exactly what the nation is facing”.

You have nailled it right. For the sake of winning the election at all cost NPP gave huge promises. The realities are now donning on them they are now back paddling. When the reality hits them in the face them they claim NDC left bad economy. You were voted to fix the problem and not to apportion blame. FIX IT. JDM could not make such gangatuah promises bcos they were in the driver's seat then and knew those promioses are not real. we live to see.
we now have more unemployment groups 1 the unemployment Galamseyers 2. unemployment recruiters due to gulf ban without taken measures 3. unemployment staff of lab centers due to all gulf ban. 4. unemployment travel agents association 5. employed airline staff who goes to wrk but no job in the office due to the gulf banned and are afraid fo loosing their jobs. hahah Nana i beg take it easy some of ur policies r killing people softly. well i heard some birds talking abt it and i decided to put it here at least one of ur men can see this n keep u on ur toe.
Funny Dee. Common sense can tell you that you create 110 ministerial jobs even in a day so what are you dreaming about
I AM LAUGHING AT THIS GUY. HOW OLD IS HE? SOMETIMES ITS NOT OUR GOD'S FAULT. PEOPLE LIKE JACOBS ARE EMBARRASSING POLITICAL I D II. OOO TS. WHO ARE HIS PARENTS AND DOES HE HAVE CHILDREN AT ALL? NDC REGIONAL CHAIRMAN? W H AA T?
What truth did JM tell Ghanaians? If JM and his NDC had taken steps to roll out policies to help the growth of the private sector then private sector employment would have grown with it but every Ghanaian witnessed how the private sector collapsed during 2009-2016 from DUMSOR alone (power cuts). Meanwhile public sector debt was skyrocketing at the same time with nothing to show for it.Did JM ever tell Ghanaians that public sector employment was over bloating? Certainly not! The sorry thing for people like you is that Ghanaians have entered an era where PROPAGANDA works no more so unfortunately for you NDC IS NOT COMING BACK IN 2020. I would rather urge you to do your bit to ensure the government succeeds as NPP and Nana has the best interests of Ghana and Ghanaians at heart.
I dont blame Senior Minister but I blame who believe that he is real economist. He is an economist under my foot. When JM was telling Ghanains the truth they voted against him . They now turn back to support these old evil dwarfs. Ask the senior Minister that when he was the MP for Akim Oda what did he do to help his people? He eulogies himself because he thinks some strange economics during Ex-PreZ.Kuffour's era not knowing the economic he declared the country as Highly indebted Poor Country (HIPC) before some of our debt were forgiving and grants were provided for us to run our economy.
Did Allotey Jacobs read and understood what Osafo Marfo said,? its a pity
common sense should tell you that it does not take 7 months to create jobs after inheriting the kind of economy you left.
