The managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has asked the Akufo-Addo-led government to explain to parents that the free SHS policy being implemented now is only for new entrants because the promise was free SHS and not free ‘first year SHS’.
“What the NPP promised was free education for all students of the senior high school not the 1st year and not the second years but all students of the senior high school. It is possible that this is the beginning and that subsequently, second years and third years will be added on. But as at now the promise of making education free for all students of senior high school has not been achieved...it’s in the interest of government to state this because some parents of second and third year believe that their children are going to enjoy free education and if it is not explained, it will create problems for the headmasters and headmistresses. What is being implemented now is free education for only new entrants of the senior high schools” he said during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji.
The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) much touted free Senior High School policy will be fully rolled out on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
President Akufo-Addo delivering a speech at the 60th Anniversary celebration and the Speech and Prize Giving Day of Okuapeman School in Akropong in the Eastern Region said: “by free SHS we mean that in addition to tuition which is already free, there will be no admission fee, no library fee, no science centre fee, no computer lab fee, no examination fee, and no utility fee; there will be free text books, free boarding and free meals, and day students will get a meal at school for free. Free SHS will also cover agricultural, vocational and technical institutions at the high school level. I also want to state clearly again that we have a well-thought out plan that involves the building of new public senior high schools and cluster public senior high schools.”

Somebody remind Kwesi Pratt if he was patriotic enough he would have rejected everything including land cruisers and a house given to him by the mahama government yo propagate deceit and lies for his government, that money could have helped a child in SHS2 if you Kwesi Pratt has rejected all the freebies collected from the ndc to hate Ghana that could have helped a child pay his/her examination fee. Nation wrecker and anti-Ghana hypocrite Onyame betua wo ne wo'asefuo nyinaa ka. Opanin ***barred word***,Opanin ***barred word*** ,Opanin ***barred word*** masha, masha ***barred word*** hunu. You bring that ***barred word*** you showed during Papa Kuffuor's time and you will meet your meter aboafun.
Nana addo should stop calling this policy free shs and call it free education for first year students. How is it freeSHS when it's for few parents. If it is across all years then you can turn it free SHS. This can't be free SHS. I can't be received when I am still going to pay about 1000 Ghana for my son in Mfantsipim third year, meaning in the next year, I am supposed to pay about 3000 Ghana, and you want me to applaud you for this scam of a policy. They should stop deceiving us, because in this computer age when the fisher folks and farmers who have not been to school understand when they are being deceived. If you can't do it, don't say it and come and say its for only first years.
Why this unworthy criticism? Is it a means to criticize at all costs? The policy says free SHS beginning September. We may call it a matter of semantics. With a good motive, I believe we would all agree that this policy should start with the first years and with time will cover all the full stream of SHS students. I think that is the way such policies are implemented. I remember when NDC decided to scrap the 4 year SHS programme, the three year policy did not affect those who were already in school. It started with the first year students. I don't know if Kwesi Pratt raised a similar criticism. You guys make journalism dumb especially when looked at with political lenses like what Kwesi Pratt has been known to always look at issues. We need to be careful!
So far as Ghana still has sycophants and disgracefully arrogant idoits ,Ghana always be where it is now...why insult the noble man kwasi Pratt?? He says the fact as it is and so all the insults is u and ur ***barred word*** political affiliation..some of guys are just disrespectful so u don't care how you treat a hunurable person like Kwesi Pratt.... Kwesi I support u cos u are for the truth and truth is a bitter pill to take so don't mind them...A government lies its way into power and starts messing up and intelligent ppl talk, then ***barred word*** are insulting them to score common political points...open ur eyes and think straight and stop the politics OK...respect ourselves...
This man is one of the most traitorous politicians ever in the annals of Ghana's history. The president promised free SHS education and all we know is that it is starting next week. By your warped logic then all those whose parents have paid for their wards' education for the past 40 years should have the fees refunded to them. Besides ask your friend the super -th13f Mahama how much money he left in the treasury. At your age Pratt you are supposed to be wise. Stop talking as if there is stale pito in your mouth.
And Akwasi Pratt promised that Nana Addo can never become the president of Ghana. AKWASI, HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN SO SOON? BETTER ***barred word***!
Most pupils who gain admission to the top senior high schools like Achimota, WGHS, Prempeh, Kwabotwe parents can afford to pay vacation and after school classes for them. Why should a government give these children free boarding education? The children from poor background should be prioritised and we need to build more senior DAY high schools to cater for the thousands of pupils who can not get access to senior high schools simply because the country hasn't got enough for them to continue.
Well spoken I think the statement NANA ADDO made is Wat has been explained well. It free SHS and we don't have only form Ones to be the SHS so please let be clear.
