The managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has asked the Akufo-Addo-led government to explain to parents that the free SHS policy being implemented now is only for new entrants because the promise was free SHS and not free ‘first year SHS’.
“What the NPP promised was free education for all students of the senior high school not the 1st year and not the second years but all students of the senior high school. It is possible that this is the beginning and that subsequently, second years and third years will be added on. But as at now the promise of making education free for all students of senior high school has not been achieved...it’s in the interest of government to state this because some parents of second and third year believe that their children are going to enjoy free education and if it is not explained, it will create problems for the headmasters and headmistresses. What is being implemented now is free education for only new entrants of the senior high schools” he said during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji.
The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) much touted free Senior High School policy will be fully rolled out on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
President Akufo-Addo delivering a speech at the 60th Anniversary celebration and the Speech and Prize Giving Day of Okuapeman School in Akropong in the Eastern Region said: “by free SHS we mean that in addition to tuition which is already free, there will be no admission fee, no library fee, no science centre fee, no computer lab fee, no examination fee, and no utility fee; there will be free text books, free boarding and free meals, and day students will get a meal at school for free. Free SHS will also cover agricultural, vocational and technical institutions at the high school level. I also want to state clearly again that we have a well-thought out plan that involves the building of new public senior high schools and cluster public senior high schools.”

Nana and his chief liar Bawumia are clever at crafting lies and cover them up. They condemned IMF but now they are deep into it, they condemned borrowing but they have borrowed more than any government in Ghana's history in 8 month of office. The keep increasing fuel prices yet they claimed the prices of fuel were too high, They said electricity bill was higher than rent yet now under their watch the situation is worse, they said free education for all including technical and vocational schools yet they have choses half of just first students claiming they have implemented free SHS and the list goes on. Because they are crafted liars they will come and carve out all these lies to look real in their own magic ways. Ghanaians are watching. Another 4 years of Mahama rule would changed Ghana for good especially on infrastructure development, the country was getting so nice and a speedy pace but now this clueless government has blocked all.
Hmm Kwesi Pratt pls jux tke ur time, relax n watch de ball cos de game is yet to start beside we dnt move a car 🚗 with 5th gear,we start from 1st gear up to .... Pls dnt let ppl insults u cos u re a grown up OKAY
Why does you npp fanatics hate the truth. Your promise was free education for all students in second circle schools and not only fresh students. What fairness does giving free shs to only fresh students bring to all Ghanaian parents? Some parents already have two to three children in shs so it means they would keep paying fees for next two years. What sense does this make? If you make it free for all students irrespective of your class, then equity is achieved, then the concept of free shs is being sensible. As it stands, its possible most rich people who can even pay the fees of their wards are those who are rather not going to pay fees. But the poor who already have two to three students in school before the introduction of this policy are going to be disadvantaged because they would keep paying fees. Kwesi Pratt is 100% right. People should stop being blind politically and speak the truth for at least once.
Why does this man talk like a recuperating lunatic? Kwasi Pratt, be like Zacchaeus, repent and give up all the illegal "gifts" you received from NDC to be used to pay for ALL SHS students and bow your head in shame. Okotobonku.
Use.lesss dog foooo0lish man...magg0t,dem0n sstupid man...wo maaaame tw3
This man is slowly becoming irrelevant and ***barred word*** so far as Ghanaian politics is concerned
The current government is proving to be better at playing the DemonCratic polical game than the previous government. They are shrewd, cunning, clever, prudent and politically savvy. They know how to sell a pig in a poke. Learn from them. More deceptive practices that were perpetrated during the last elections will come out soon. The electorate now gets the opportunity to compare the two governments. They will make an informed decision. Sweet revenge. The bitter the battle, the sweeter the victory. Stay tuned.
HYPOCRISY GALORE!!!!! KWASI PRATT, HALF A LOAVE IS FAR,FAR BETTER THAN GETTING A HOUSE IN ABURI THROUGH STEALING WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THE POOR.
