A Communications team member of the National Democratic Congress [NDC], Alhaji Nasiru has emphatically stated that members of the current government especially appointees of the president should not perform their duties based on their selfish interests.
To him, each appointee must know his or her purpose of being elected to serve the state and not want to do things in their personal interest.
“. . No government appointee should think they will use their selfish interest to overrule the rule of law under which they work, and therefore take decisions that will suit their personal interest,” he fumed.
Discussing matters of the Electoral Commission's (EC) alleged corruption scandal on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political segment, Alhaji Nasiru noted that “President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should be very careful on his stance on this matter because per the constitution of our land, he has the mandate to take the final decision after court proceedings and the committee findings.”
“Indeed, the conduct of this government in respect to the EC scandal clearly shows that they[members of the NPP] are driving towards a particular direction of which their leader needs to be very careful or he faces the outcome of his actions in future. The situations on this matter are becoming so uncomfortable,” he lamented.
He sai members of the NPP are those who “deal in organized corruption crimes” and yet claim they will wipe out corruption in this country.
BACKGROUND
Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, and two of her deputies, Georgina Opoku-Amankwah, who is in charge of Corporate Services, and Amadu Sulley, in charge of Operations, are expected to appear before the five-member committee chaired by a Supreme Court Judge for questioning relating to separate petitions filed against them.
The appearance of the three before the 5- member committee set to investigate the scandal follows the completion of preliminary investigations into their alleged conduct of abuse of power and corruption.
In August, 2017, the three EC bosses were directed by the Chief Justice to file their official responses to the allegations leveled against them in the various petitions.

What happened to Laureta Lamptey? Some petitioners raised charges of corruption and impropriety against her as Chraj Commissioner. President Mahama forwarded the petition to the CJ. The CJ established a prima facie case against her. A panel was set up by the CJ to investigate the case against Ms. Lamptey. She was asked to step aside while the investigations were on going. When her guilt was established the panel sent their report to the CJ who also sent her ruling, report or judgement to President Mahama. President Mahama took a decision based on the report from the CJ and impeached or dismissed Ms Lamptey, the Commissioner of CHRAJ. That was the end of the matter. No one raised any objection against the action taken by President Mahama. Why are people raising all kinds of questions against Mrs Chalotte Osei as if she is above the law? Why are some politicians rushing to the defense of the EC Chair as if she is being pushed out of office without justification? It must be made clear that the President has not taken any decision on the lady. His decision will be purely based on the findings of the team empaneled by the CJ. In any case Mrs. Osei is not the only commissioner going through this exercise. Her two deputies are also going through the process based on charges leveled against each other by themselves. The president or his administration has not leveled any charges against any of them. Let ll of us be patient and wait for the results of the investigations of the panel put together by the CJ. There should be no political noise from any quarters please.
Hey check your words and pronouncements. What basis and law knowledge you have to warn the president exercising his constitutional duties? Be warn and stop that ***barred word*** statements and stay in your lane
