Minister of Information has asked the office of former President John Dramani Mahama not to put pressure on the ruling government to settle him but to exercise a bit of restraint.
According to him, government now has to contend with the wellbeing of two former heads of state and questioned why the Mahama administration did not settle former President John Agyekum Kufuor when they were in office.
“Even ex-President Kufuor has not been given his accommodation yet since 2009 when he left office…That therefore puts the pressure of settling two former presidents on us, and they had only one president to provide for and couldn’t complete it...” he said.
The minister’s comment follows remarks made by Special Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari.
Madam Mogtari described as 'false and most unfortunate' allegation that the former President was occupying a military land.
According to her, the former President was asked to vacate the land; adding, the ruling government must "take care of ex-presidents better and not in the manner currently being done".
Speaking on Accra based Joy FM on Thursday, 14 December 2017, in response to Madam Mogtari's comment, Mr Hamid pleaded with the former President to be ‘patient’
“…so they should be patient with us, we are pleading with them” he urged.

JDM must wait till eternity. Just a year and u people are already complaining. Kufuor left government since 2008 which is 9years now but still haven't receive anything so why are u complaining after one year. Better provide ur own accommodation because u have to stay as long as kufuor did.You thought u were doing harm to the man, that's why u dont have to throw stones when u live in a glasses house. KARMA is a bitch
Kukrukukru no gyae a, kekakeka nso be gyae! If you are in love with the pleading of Mustapha Hamid - though it dramatisation - advice Dominic Nitiwul to emulate him.
AFTER STEALING TAX PAYERS MONEY HE WANTS WHAT? HE SHOULD GO TO BOLE AND HE DOESN'T HAVE AN ACOMMODATION.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. THERE IS NO NEED TO IMPLEMENT THAT CLAUSE. THE CLAUSE WAS ENSHRINED IN THE CONSTITUTION BECAUSE OF JJ. IT WAS ONLY NECESSARY FOR JJ WHO HAD NOTHING BEFORE HIS COUP THAT EVENTUALLY BROUGHT HIM TO BECOME PRESIDENT. WITH CURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF OUR POLITICAL STATE, WE MAY NEVER EXPERIENCE THAT CONDITION AGAIN.
I say I love this guy Hon Hamid.Hear him plead with former president to exercise restraints. Why can't ndc learn from him? You see Kramoba Alhaji Bawumia he will certainly be next president of the republic after the term ofoffice of Nana Addo is over.He respects papa. I love you guys sòooooo much.
WHY SHOULD GOVERNMENT PROVIDE ACCOMODATIOM TO FORMER PRESIDENT? WERE THEY PAID WHEN THEY WERE IN OFFICE? CAN THEY USE THE RETIREMENT PAY TO BUY A HOUS THEMSELVES>
What is god for gander is good for?
there is a saying that first come first. President Kuffour should be settled first before Mahama.Mahama can go to hell
@KK, Do you mean after Mahama's unprecedented corrruption he could not build a common house in Accra? Why don't you advise him to go and live in Dubai where he siphoned Ghana's money to. The insults the NDC hurled on Kuffuor will be on their heads. Did Mills and Mahama fend for Kuffuor as Kuffuor did to Mills and JJ? I am even surprised that Hamid is pleading with him, which should not be the case. The wickedness of the NDC will continue to blind them in their judgement.
Stateman's talk....kudos Hamid. Madam Mogtari should learn from Hamid.....
