A former Deputy Minister of Information in the John Mahama administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as insensitive the ruling government’s decision to evict traders around President Akufo-Addo’s house.
The shop owners who have been operating around the President’s private residence for more than two decades have been given a March 15 deadline to relocate after receiving various compensation package.
The compensation package ranges between GHC3,000 and GHC10,000.
However the former Deputy Minister feels since the President has refused to move to the Presidential villa at the Flagstaff House, he should learn to live with that situation.
"I am not by any stretch of imagination criticising any move to enhance the security of the President; but that effort must respect the rights and livelihood of others...It is because we recognise the need to secure the President that a specific place has been provided with tax payers money for him and that is the villa attached to the flagstaff house. It is a very secure environment and whatever it is that is wrong with that place that makes it inhabitable; it’s not beyond our capacity as a country to resolve for which reason it will become necessary to go and evict people living their lives. So I am opposed to this effort to alter and disrupt the lives of poor and vulnerable Ghanaians only because they live next to the President’s house. The President made a conscious decision not to live in the presidential villa so he must live with the consequence of that…that he is going to have to share his neighbourhood with others who have a legitimate right to earn a living…" he opined during a panel discussion on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday.

you have the ball to talk jobless in GHANA, your schooling in ENGLAND could have help these people. give us a break
This boy is truly a nitwit. If he is an example of the caliber of people leading the NDC, then Ghana is truly in trouble. First of, the folks being evicted are there illegal due to past inactions of NDC governments that actually encouraged lawlessness during their PNDC revolutionary days. Secondly the eviction is predicated on the opinions of the National Security apparatus that he, Ofusu Kwakye has been a beneficiary off as a Minister. Nana Addo has lived with these squatters on his doorstep all these years as a private citizen and I don't think he is worried about what they will do, but as President of the Republic he has to take into consideration the advice of his Security chiefs. Thirdly, note that the illegal squatters who are an eyesore and an endangerment to pedestrians are being given notice and compensation to move. Fourthly, Ofusu Kwakye speaks of the squatters' livelihood, does that mean that in the name of making a living ALL GHANAIAN can thus flout and break the laws of the nation? It is high time we start to bring discipline, law and order but into Ghanaian society. The politization of every action taken in the country by know nothing loud mouths who want power must be curbed. Sensible productive discourse must be restored into our political discussions and statements. It is time people like Ofosu Kwakye are called out by Ghanaians and their mindless vocalization not given an audience by the media.
AS FOR THIS PRATT THE LEAST SAID ABOUT HIM THE BETTER. YOU WILL DO WELL GOING TO ASK YOUR MUM WHO YOUR FATHER IS, THAT IS IF SHE DOES KNOW HERSELF. AB*AFUNU LIKE YOU
