The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority in Parliament has visited Afa Yili in the Kumbungu district of the Northern Region where about 14 tipper trucks, an excavator and a motorbike were set ablaze by Operation Vanguard.
This was a follow up to the Minority legislators’ earlier call for full-scale investigations into the issue. The Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu led the delegation on a fact-finding mission.
He announced that the Minority would head to court over the issue, after meeting with the Tamale Tipper Truck Owners Union.
The Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu constituency, Ras Mubarak told Citi News earlier that the visit will offer the minority caucus the opportunity to commiserate with the affected truck owners.
He said the minority caucus was committed to getting justice for the affected truck owners. The delegation also paid courtesy calls on the chiefs of Kumbungu and Dalung.
The burning of the 14 tipper trucks has gained prominence in both social and mainstream media.
That action taken by the Operation Vanguard taskforce remains a trending issue trending on the airwaves of Tamale-based radio stations. Some concerned citizens have condemned the action and advocated the need to compensate the owners.
Truck owners demand full-scale investigations
Owners of the torched heavy equipment cried foul over the situation and called for investigations and compensation
They stormed the Dakpema palace in Tamale where they served notice of a protest against the government if the issue was not thoroughly investigated and the affected people compensated.

These MPs are a bunch of ethnocentric m0rons. They kick alive only when equipment of northers are torched. When the mining equipment of galamseyers in the south were burnt, we never heard of them. I guess they became deaf at the time or traveled to space. Perhaps the southerners are not as human as their northern counterparts. They endorse lawlessness so it is certainly their stock in trade. Opposition will they remain for the rest of their lives.
@ KOJO. YOUR SPELLING OF AKAN NAMES HAS BLOWN YOUR COVER TRYING TO BE PART OF THE HUMAN RACE. YOUR HATRED AND DEEP SEATED INFERIORITY COMPLEX HAS DEPRIVED YOU OF THINKING. LOOK DEEP INSIDE YOURSELF, IF YOU ARE CAPABLE OF, AND ASK YOURSELF, IF THE ISSUE AT STAKE DESERVES THE INSULT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT? HE MIGHT BE MONKEY FACE AS YOU PUT IT, BUT AT LEAST HE IS HUMAN AND CAPABLE OF THINKING UNLIKE YOU. THE TROUBLE WITH YOU PEOPLE IS THAT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO LEARN FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE BETTER THAN YOU, YOU HAVE DECIDED TO HATE THEM AND WISH THEM DEAD. LOOK AROUND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY AND SEE IF THERE IS ANYONE REMOTELY CLOSER TO THE PRESIDENT. KEEP ON DRINKING WATER WITH COWS AND HOPE TO BE AS GOOD AS HUMAN BEINGS. MMOA.
HOW COME ALL THE FUULISH M.P'S FROM THE NORTHERN PART OF GHANA ARE IN THE N.D.C? ARE THESE MORONS OF A SO CALLED MINORITY CAUCUS TRYING TO SAY THOSE NATION WRECKERS ARE ABOVE THE LAWS OF GHANA BECAUSE THEY ARE SAND WINNERS? STOP THE EMPTY NOISES AND TELL THEM TO BE LAW ABIDING NEXT TIME.
Why demonstrate against the gov't? It was the military people who went and burnt the trucks, don't they know where Kamina barracks is, they should go there and demonstrate. ***barred word***! As for this group of nation's saboteurs called minority caucus, that is their stock in trade. You remember what the did in 2002 during the murder of the Ya-Na? They jumped into and made a whole political point out of it. What did they do about that case when they won power? For them, what they think about are their votes not the people they represent.
If not monkey face rule Ghana how can this happen under J A KOFFOUR and handsom JM you think is the best way to go as a country why burn it cant you make arrest Ghana will go war under this ***barred word*** president J A Kofour told us to becareful in electing s good person to lead the party.
If it was a water source only in the north and was not affecting the volta lake I will meet the chiefs and ask them if the sand winning should occur or maintain the land for farming and protective vegetation around the river. If the say no it is no ,but if they say yes it is yes and they will deal with the future repercussions. If you want the money today and not think about the future generations so be it ,the future generations can walk to the chief or beneficial residence and deal with them there will be no state intervention.
THIS IS PURELY PROPAGANDA! IT WILL NOT WIN TOY VOTE. NDC, ENEMIES IS PROGRESS. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT HOW GHANA WILL PROGRESS, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS CREATE, LOOT & SHARE!
NDC IS ENEMY OF GHANA
You cannot think you can sit in your corner somewhere and behave anyhow. Whether you are in Kumbungu or whether you are in Accra, the government sets the rules and the citizens must comply. If activities of some big business owners in your area has been investigated and the government has found that a certain practice must stop because it is destroying the environment, then EVERYBODY must comply. The tipper truck owners were given plenty notice. They chose to ignore the government because they thought "this is our area and we can get away with it." Nobody should act as if they're surprised. The truck owners were just pushing their luck, and now the NDC opportunists are coming to see if they can make some political capital from the incident.
