An activist of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Hajia Fati, who assaulted a female journalist at the party’s headquarters has rendered an unqualified apology to the victim and all journalists in Ghana.
Hajia Fati, speaking to a section of the media at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday, 9th day of May, 2018 said, "I hold no grudges against any journalist.
“It was a mistake, you people should forgive me, I am sorry and it won’t happen again”.
Hajia Fati, who was weeping uncontrollably, promised to get in touch with the lady in question to personally apologize.
Hajia Fati reportedly slapped a journalist of the Multimedia Group who was covering events at the NPP’s headquarters on Friday, 4 May 2018, as the party’s suspended Second National Vice Chair, Sammy Crabbe, went to pick his nomination forms.
She slapped Ohemaa Sekyiwaa as she tried taking pictures of events at the party’s headquarters.
The leadership of the governing NPP has condemned the attack on the journalist but the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is contemplating a civil action against Hajia Fati.
