Anita De-Soso, the first Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed the reason behind former President Rawlings’ recent behaviour and attacks on some personalities in the party including herself.

The outspoken NDC stalwart singled out wife of the former president, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as the cause of Mr Rawlings's disaffection with some leaders of the opposition party, accusing her of constantly feeding the husband with falsehoods.

But Anita stressed that, irrespective of the fact that the Rawlingses groomed her politically, she will not hesitate to tell them the truth in the face and damn the consequences.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning show, Anita De-Soso was critical of the Rawlingses absence at any official NDC event for years now, but found it surprising that the duo will grace NPP functions with their presence.

Recounting what she believes has led to the deep gulf between the NDC and its founder, Madam De-Soso alluded to her refusal to accept a bribe from the former first lady to shore up support for her (Konadu) by organising the women in the party to vote against then candidate John Evans Atta Mills during the party's internal contest for a flagbearer.

Konadu is at logger-heads with me because I refused to accept her bribe . . . which resulted in the women caucus voting against her and this is the reason for her anger towards me.

“We went to congress at Winneba and you [Nana Konadu] didn’t support me, you didn’t like me because I refused to run certain errands for you, but I won the race as the Women’s Organizer. She called me to her office after the congress and asked me how I managed to raise the funds for my campaign. Then she decided to offer me money to induce me to do her bidding and I refused it.

“But after watching the video which my father, Rawlings was calling me names and my mother [Konadu] was standing by saying nothing, then I realized the truism in the adage that ‘behind every honourable man is a good woman and behind every useless man is a bad woman’. This is what the Bible says,” Anita De-Soso said.
