Gambian leader Adama Barrow on Friday replaced the vice president and three other ministers in his first major Cabinet reshuffle since coming to power.

Barrow relieved Vice President Fatoumata Jallow and replaced him with former Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe, according to a press release from the presidency.

The presidency said Jallow was now assigned to the foreign service though it remained unclear where exactly and in what capacity.

Darboe is the leader of Barrow’s party, United Democratic Party, whose sentencing to three years gave way for President Barrow to take the leadership of the party.

Barrow also sacked Agriculture Minister Omar Jallow, who is battling corruption allegation.

He also relieved Youth Minister Henry Gomez and Communication Minister Demba Jawo, two of whom were criticized for being incompetent.
