Seasoned Journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has waded into discussions regarding the dismissal of the Electoral Commission (EC) Charlotte Osei and her two Deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah by the President of the Republic.
Upon the recommendations of a Committee set up by Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, President Nana Akufo-Addo removed the EC Boss and her Deputies asking them to hand over to the Director for Human Resource and General Services of the EC.
Speaking on Joy FM's "News File" on Saturday, Kweku Baako threw his weight behind the President, acknowledging that he has done nothing wrong by removing the EC Boss and her two Deputies.
Though standing by his conviction that Madam Charlotte Osei hasn't engaged in any misconduct, Mr. Baako however told host of the programme that in view of the legal procedures, "what President [Akufo-Addo] had to do relative to the constitution, I have no difficulty with that. I think a lot of people are trying to shift the focus of the discussion".
“I have to be very frank with you, I was on her [Charlotte Osei] side, I’m still on her side and I did it with all my conscience and conviction, and I still stand by her, that’s important, it’s a matter of conviction, conscience and commitment to a just cause,” he stressed.
Mr. Baako believed there's a conspiracy against Charlotte Osei, disclosing he has been keenly following the work by the Committee and the petitioners' testimonies were sketchy.
“There was a gentleman who was a driver, Forson Ampofo, I am not a lawyer... his testimony was a complete disaster. The person who had led the petitioners and was claiming that he was doing it on the basis of personal knowledge of the allegations that he had made, when he appeared before the committee, actually showed that he had no personal knowledge of anything that had been put in their petition...“He had even claimed that he attends commission meetings and had personal knowledge but it turned out that it was nil. It is only when management had issues with labour and labour leaders are being called, and he being one of the leaders in Ashanti region, come to meetings but not the commission meetings...It was a huge disaster, so I thought it will not be entertained", he recounted about a petitioner's claim.
"This whole thing was a conspiracy, that’s how it began. Among the members of the commission, four members of the commission, Paulina Adadzewa…Georgina Amankwaa and Amadu Sulley, they plotted it. But interestingly, the hole was too big, in entering they dragged Charlotte along, that’s the way I see it", he added.

All these infractions of Charlotte and the two other commissioners happened before the 2016 elections when John Mahama was president. Charlotte, Amadu and Georgina were all assured of their positions ans support from the powers that be. There might have been a conspiracy alright, but it is a fact that all three of the top commissioners were throwing mud at each other. Charlotte first reported Georgina and the finance manager to EOCO and had them interdicted, when Charlotte knew she had no such power to interdict Georgina. Georgina and Amadu then threw mud at Charlotte enumerating charges. Then Charlotte threw further charges at Amadu. When the petitioners sent their petitions to the president, he duly forwarded them to the CJ who followed all laid down processes and set up a committee to investigate. At the committee sittings all three willingly gave detailed evidence to nail each other instead of defending themselves. They were all found guilty of various offences and may have to either face prosecution or refund some monies to the state. It might have been started with conspiracy but who caused it? All three of them have committed very serious offences which are in flagrant violation of their terms of authority and responsibility, and they must face the consequences of their action. Kweku can support Charlotte as he said before the beginning of the committee's work. For once I do not agree with Kweku and he has failed badly. None of them can hide under the protection of 'conspiracy' to claim innocence. The law has caught up with them and they must leave office like how Loretta Lamptey quietly left office. I have listened to an audio purported to have been recorded from a conversation with one commissioner making the rounds, but that will not change anything. All three commissioners were greedy and they fell into their own traps, and they must bear the consequences of their actions, PERIOD!
Kwaku Baako, I think it's high time you and other panels tell Ghanaians what you really do to make money. You're 'communications experts'. In other words, you take contracts to do specific PR works. That means you defend both right and wrong. It's a clean job but people should know that part of that job is to establish 'credibility' with the people to make you believable and influential while you execute your contracts of defending what's wrong, often masked as opinions. You and your colleagues have been good at what you do- obvious by your riches.
Kwaku Baako is now shifting focus on Anas stage managed investigation video. Just this weekend comedians show on a TV station in the U.S.MD were joking with the No,#12 Video. They were mimicking Anas comments in the video and also Nyantekyi comments regarding some one is in his pocket blah ..blah and they all started laughing [This is a total disgrace to Ghanaians especially, those of us in diaspora]} Anas must be stopped of this Kwaku Ananse and Ntikuma tricks to blackmail people for Ghana to become a laughing stock in the international community.

I USED TO RESPECT THIS MAN A LOT, BUT NOT ANYMORE, WHY BECAUSE CHARLOTTE OSEI DID NOT FOLLOWED OUR CONSTITUTION BUT RATHER DOING THINGS IN HER OWN WAY WITHOUT EVEN CONSULTING IT OWN COLLEAGUES AND WORKERS. AND YOU ARE TALKING FOR HER. TAKE IT LIKE THAT MR BAAKO. IT IS THE SAME JUDGES WHO DECLARE MAHAMA AS PRESIDENT IN THE SUPREME COURT ON THE 2012 ELECTIONS, so they THE SAME JUDGES ADVISE THE PRESIDENT TO SACK CHARLOTTE OSEI AND HIS DEPUTIES, also if a commoner steal a plantain he/she should goes to jail, but MADAM OSEI SHOULD GOES FREE
Why do you all with very small brains refuse to open your eyes. When it goes for you , you all hail him but when he's being more reasonable you all become myopic. If this is not political then what is it.... This Nana Addo dwarf wants to plung this country into chaos
Kweku, don't lose your much earned objectivity over this woman just because she's supposed to be your relative. She's not worth it.
As a kid, I always looked up to Kweku Baako for his excellent analysis but it seems in recent times his utterances are getting increasingly shallow. Look, if you are a manager in any organization and you can't get along with your deputies then either you go, or they go or both of you go. How can you be the head of such a sensitive institution like the EC and be fighting with other commissioners? It is clear from the wranglings that the deputies and Mrs. Osei were sabotaging each other. Even to the extent that they couldn't organize meetings. I remember when they went for the parliamentary hearings it came out that madam even travels outside without informing her colleagues. Kweku with all due respect, if Ghana was your father's company will you still keep Mrs. Osei at post? Yet when Mrs. Osei was sacked she was quoting scriptures while forgetting that the greatest commandment is living at peace with God and your fellows.
we all saw how EC tried to manipulate this elections, but for the Good Lord, the country could have been in chaos. it is only good that this crooked lady is remove and prosecuted. stealing monies through a clever way is not the same as serving to the best of ones ability. no. she has to be prosecuted. i am disappointed in government not prosecuting persons who took double salaries. please let us see some discipline by prosecuting these guys.
the same way you conspired with Anas to set up kwesi nyantakyi. KWEKU BAAKO IS YOU AND ANAS THE MOST INTELLIGENT HUMANBEINGS ON EARTH?? I ONCE USED TO RESPECT YOU A LOT BUT NOW I SEE YOU TO BE ONE DIRTYY UNTIDYYY HUMAN FULL OF MALICE AND BIAS
