The culture of maintenance has remained a major challenge in safeguarding state properties in the country and 'Asomdwe Park' where late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills was buried 6 years ago is no exception to this culture.
Tomorrow, July 24, marks exactly 6 years that late Professor Evans Atta Mills, the President of the Republic of Ghana died while in office and the place he was buried has nothing good to report about as the 'Asomdwe Park' is bushy and a habitat for many animals.
Discussing how the 6 years memorial service for the late President will be observed, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho who served the late President directly bemoaned the state of the 'Asomdwe Park', where his former boss was buried.
He described the place as an eyesore, as the 'Asomdwe Park' which is the responsibility of the government to keep it clean and neat has been abandoned and left in the care of wild animals.
“We will hire people to tidy up the Asomdwe Park if the government gives the park to me, but for as long as it remains the property of the State, let the State take up its responsibility. That is all I can say but I am very sad this morning,” he bemoaned.
He added that the unappreciative nature in the country is deterring people from ‘killing’ themselves for the country; in reference to the fact that the late President Mills while alive taught many people at the University of Ghana’s Law Faculty, Ghana Law School, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and at the School of Administration.
“It is true we have the cutlasses to weed the place but at the end of the day, for how long are we going to weed the place? This is why I am saying that if it gets to a point where the State is not interested any longer to cater for the 'Asomdwe Park', I am sure there are millions of people who will take up the park,” he said.
He was however hopeful that next year which mark the 7th year in memory of the late President Mills, there will be a much more peaceful resting place for the 'Asomdwehene' as this 6th year memorial service has been a failure.
“ . . as for this year’s memorial service of the late President Mills, the whole nation should bow down our heads in shame; it doesn’t speak well of us. I am weeping this morning because last year I led it and we did it," he lamented.

tell us who killed him, and maintain the place for you.
I stand to be corrected, was his body not sent to his hometown to be buried, the NDC dug six or constructed additional holes for future ocurance, I promise you, you will fill the six empty holes at the asomdwe park with your party members
Please go and tidy the place at least you will loose some weight to improve your health and smelly body.
You don't need to make much noise, mobilize NDC youth to go and tidy the place for your Asomdwehene. You managed to steal 20 million dollars to build mansion for your party . Why can you find some few cedis to weed that place now? Who cares about Atta Mills rotten body? Ask how many Ghanaians are suffering because of Atta Mills weak governance.
THE DAY WILL COME
Koku, you have become talkatiive, what are you waiting, for some you is because of the late Prof Mill you running your mouths today, Why don’t tell John Mahama , he was nobody until he was chosen by the Prof Mills as vice and later metamorphosis to become a corrupttt and incompetenttt President
This the result of when rush to do things. There are other places we can bury the President but because of ignorance with some of the people has led to the state of the burial place, it is not meant for burial.
WHO CARES WHETHER YOU ASSEMBLE 50 MOVERS TO THE PACK.
He described the place as an eyesore, as the 'Asomdwe Park'. This shows that the NDC did not like Prof. Mills. You could NOT do anything at the so-called Asomdwe Park'after receiving DOUBLE SALARIES!
You don't need to say this on air , take a cutlass and go an weed the place.
