President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a motorcycle assembling plant at Lamashegu, Tamale in the Northern Region.
This is the first factory under the One District-One Factory programme in the region.
The plant is a public-private partnership between the government of Ghana and a Chinese private company known as Motorking Company Limited.
The factory is expected to assemble different kinds of tricycles including farm tricycles, rural ambulance tricycles and mobile library tricycles.
Mr Akufo-Addo urged citizens of the Northern Region to patronise the company’s products.
The company’s Managing Director, Dr Gau Yong promised to deepen management’s relationship with the chiefs and people of the area.
She said: “The company is to support the community and promote quality standards in healthcare services, agricultural productivity and education among others, through cost-effective transportation for all.”
“We have so far covered Tamale, Techiman and Accra with warehouse and assembling centres.”
