Alhaji Sulemana Alidu, New Patriotic Party Member of Council of Elders has appealed to the executives of various levels to work hard towards election 2020 for the party to maintain the power.

He gave the assurance that all the promises made by the president would be fulfilled and further appealed to them to live in peace and unity for more development projects.

Alhaji Alidu made the appeal during a day’s retreat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi Constituency and urged them to lead exemplary lives for others to follow.

Participants included; Polling Station Executives, Council of Elders, Patrons, Disciplinary Committee, Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and party members from 30 electoral areas.

He said the ability to retain power would depend on their performance and willingness to participate in all the development projects.

Alhaji Hammed Abubakari Yussif, the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive indicated that the importance of the meeting was for them to strategise to help to implement all government policies.

He said three classroom blocks had been constructed at Yendi Jubilee KG, a three-Classroom block for Fasa-liyatu Islamic Primary School and 360 dual desk supplied to the schools benefiting from the new classroom blocks.

Alhaji Hammed said when the government took over, 31 schools in the Yendi Municipality were benefiting from school feeding programme and has now increased to 65, while under LEAP programme, beneficiaries had increased from 1,116 to 5,690.

He said a number of projects had been carried out over the last few months in the Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Roads sectors and stated that the assembly promised constructing 31 roads in the constituency under the Government of NPP programme especially the Yendi, Kuga and Gbingbaliga roads.

He said the Yendi-Gundugu-Kulkpanga was ongoing, while Pansiya road, Kuga to Zang roads were also under construction.

Banchiya road he said was completed and Yendi would soon be connected to River Oti at Gnani at the cost of $3 million in order to solve the frequent water shortage in Yendi.

He said a number of boreholes had been drilled and mechanised at Sakpeigu, Gbetubu, Zakoli, Nasa, Kulikpenduli Adibo, and a New Lorry Park.

He said in 2017 600 bags of fertilizer was allocated to the constituency and this year 28,000 bags of NPK bags of fertilizer have been allocated with 8,000 urea bags for sale, while a number of CHPS Compounds were constructed and most of the villages would soon benefit from Rural Electrification Project.

In his welcome address the constituency Chairman Mr. Abukari Sadiq said the meeting was a great opportunity for them to discuss issues of great importance.
