Sam Pee Yaley, a lawyer and former government official is wondering why the ruling Akufo-Addo administration is rushing into implementing the Double Track Senior High School system.
To him, former President Mahama’s way of infrastructure first, before making education at the High School free is the best, and warned government not pay deaf ears to the issues being raised.
The government has indicated that the double-track system is to create room to accommodate all students, reduce class size, increase contact hours and increase the number of holidays.
“With this system, each track will be in school for specific days for each semester and go on vacation and come back for the second semester. While the first track is in school, the second track will be on vacation and vice-versa,” President Akufo-Addo opined.
The new system which will be implemented on Tuesday, September 11th, has been dissected by stakeholders in the educational sector, and even criticized especially from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as been rushed.
Adding his voice to the debate, Mr Sam Pee Yalley during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s "Alhaji and Alhaji", Saturday, 8th September, 2018, said “education is not a political privilege and politicians need to understand that. It is not an event, it is a process”.
According to him, “you can have the best policies but if it is badly implemented, it becomes a different thing. Government should adopt the Mahama approach; build infrastructure…why the rush? Mr President; what your parents did not do to you, don’t do it to this generation”.

Just listen to him! Mahama what? What infrastructure is he talking about? The beautifully designed EBlocks day school they built in the ***barred word***? Aaaaaaaaa! Even, during the days of Nkrumah, Boarding schools were the best. Today modern Ghana, day school are built in the ***barred word***. To attract which student and which teacher? Please keep quiet! Nana is in hurry to build Ghana what's your problem? Nana is in hurry to help bring lost hopes to those who voted for him. So what's your pee Mr. Pee? Did you vote for him? Please allow those of us he is in hurry to help to commend him
See who is talking. These NDC guys should give us a break. They were in power for 24 years and could not implement a single intervention which will benefit the poor. For your information a girl from Chiraa has for the first time gotten admission to Achimota School because of free and fair education which otherwise would have been a dream which will never materialise.
