A former Minister of state and now Board chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has said former President John Mahama is no match for President Akufo-Addo going into the 2020 general elections.
According to him, although Mr. Mahama is at liberty to seek re-election, his record of accomplishment as a former President, does not put him in good standing compared to President Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyeman was of the view that the NPP government only needs to continue with their current performance in government to retain political power.
Speaking in an interview with Godfred Akoto Boafo on Citi TV’s Face to Face, the former Foreign Affairs Minister urged government to be focused and resolute in their agenda to bring prosperity to Ghanaians.
“It is his right to contest whenever he wants to contest, but as to whether the people of Ghana will vote for him is another story. First of all, he has the struggle of his own party to overcome. But personally, I believe that him facing Nana Akufo-Addo is not an issue because if we continue the way we are continuing, there is no way anybody who leads the NDC, can beat us’”
“We have to stay focused on what we want to do and make sure that we are not distracted, and that is what we are doing. When we went to take this loan, they went to the IMF but if you are not bold you can not do anything”
Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyeman also accused the Mahama administration of ‘making noise’ with regards to claims about infrastructure development in the country under the NDC.
The Agriculturist and former diplomat said in certain cases where President Mahama undertook some projects, the cost of the projects were bloated citing the Kwame Nkrumah overpass as an example.
According to him ‘if our memories are not short as Ghanaians, I don’t see how Mr. Mahama will be President again’
“As far as I am concerned, the time that the NDC was in power under Mr. Mahama who is my very good friend, is nothing to right home about. They make a lot of noise but when you go down, nothing really was achieved. They talk about the infrastructure but nothing really was done and when things were done they spent about tens of thousands”
He further expressed his belief that President Nana Akufo-Addo would deliver on his mandate as President to the good people of Ghana.

Has NDC won any elections before? The time of rigging election is gone and a past glory. NDC will never come to power again especially when Ghana card is being introduced. Walahi nit will never happen again.
Yoo, sit there and brag before you realize you are in opposition which you gradually moving towards.
The young and beautiful lady, the new EC is set to do things right, hence, let us all encourage and support her wholeheartedly without any biased, that partisan nooooonsense. Bearing in mind that, there is only one Ghana who is going to benefit at the end of the day. Genuine voting is very critical in the democratic dispensation, while, that is the most efficient way for the electorates to express their dissensions, and to chose whom should be entrusted with the mandate to represent their interest. A good democrat rather desires or aspires to be genuinely entrusted with the power of the people to work and decide for their common good and interest. Then, having the backing of the citizenry and deriding your powers from the same guarantees and encourages good Leadership. Therefore, NDC should better forget about the vote rigging and firmly and repentantly say,' gone are the days we used to rig elections'
