“Let me state here and now, for the record, that President Akufo-Addo will not respond to presidential aspirants. He will respond to presidential candidates that have been duly elected by their parties. Then, he will engage those who still think Ghanaians have short memories.”
These were the words of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Saturday, 10th November, 2018, at the 25th anniversary celebration of the University of Development Studies, Tamale.
The President’s comment was borne out of recent attempts by aspirants of the leading opposition party in the country, the National Democratic Congress, to get the President to engage in a banter with them.
According to him “I am sure you have seen and heard some of the presidential aspirants of the leading opposition party taking jabs at my Government in order, ostensibly, to prop up their campaigns. And, whilst at it, they are desperately trying to get me to respond to them.”
However, President Akufo-Addo has served notice that he will only respond to persons duly elected as presidential candidates of their respective parties, and not to persons seeking to lead their parties.

You were voted to work for Ghana. The major problem with us is that most of us do not know what to expect from the parties. MPs, Ministers or the President. The worst entity in this regard is the NDC party, else they would not have expected marggic and Obinim stickers to work on the economy. Having stabilised the economy, the springboard is now ready for you to take off with infrastructural projects. Definitely, you cannot spend your precious time to respond to all aspirants who have no positions yet. Kudos to your response.

KWAME, GO GET AN ELDERLY PERSON IN YOUR FAMILY OR YOUR VILLAGE TO LEARN WHAT WE CALL HOME SENSE.AS THE ELDERS WILL SAY, WHAT AN ELDER WILL SEE WHILES SITTING, THE YOUNGER MAN WILL NOT SEE IF EVEN HE CLIMBS THE TALLEST TREE.
You're just a sensible man full of wisdom who in ndc now could have got this idea??? NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU
wisdom. this is the kind of wisdom that intimidates ple associated with ndc bcos they lack it. ple like kwame with little or no brain functioning will not understand you but I do bcos i have wisdom. but pls ur govt is taking too long to prosecute these ndc cr1m1nals. ur delay or inability to jail them have made given them the balls to accuse your govt of corruption. if u dont jail these ple then i will know that u all (ndc & npp) are the same. i am still watching
Because you’re who? This is abstract non. Sense. What do you even know that you don’t want to respond to. What have you done that will give you any answers to anybody’s questions. This is pure arrogance and not a smart way of showing you’re superior to any of them.
