Any attempt by former President Mahama to contest the 2020 general elections would be met with an injunction, an astute lawyer has warned.
Lawyer Maurice Kwabena Ampaw has joined the league of persons who believe it is about time to undertake a legal exercise at the court to decide whether the 1992 Constituion grants former President Mahama the opportunity to run for office again after exhausting his tenure.
According to Lawyer Mauricre Ampaw, he is prepared to “legally frasturate him (Mahama) and fight him politically to stop him from coming back”.
The move, he explained, would benefit the nation.
“It wouldn’t help the NDC in any way, and this is the reason I have chosen to speak against his return”, he said.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Lawyer Ampaw repeated that “I will frastrate him legally by taking him to court so that he goes there and give reasons on why he wants to come back. The exercise I have chosen to undertake is a test of the 1992 Constitution and that is why we have the court to decide whether I have a good case or not.”
Amongst the issues to seek clarity in the court, Lawyer Ampaw mentioned that he would be questioning if the 1992 Constitution allows former Presidents, who have finished serving their tenure and collected their ex-gratia in full, the opportunity to come back for double ex-gratia.
“I would be seeking to know if an ex-president who has finished serving his term and collected his ex-gratia can come back for a double ex-gratia...whether it is in the spirit of our Constitution that we should have a situation whereby you are given an opportunity to serve the nation as a President you can come back for another ex-gratia”, he said.
He however maintained that he is patiently waiting on the sidelines for the day the National Democratic Congress would make a move to elect former President Mahama as their flagbearer during their impending primaries.
“After the elections, if he declares his intent to contest the national elections, I (Ampaw) would place an injunction on him”, he stated.
He went on to promise that “ the injunction would happen. I don’t care about the insults because I am above it. I am doing this for the good of the NDC”.
Lawyer Ampaw warned that former President Mahama’s comeback would be dangerous for the nation.

Mahamas come back will not help d survival of NDC. Come to think of it, should Mahama win, the nation will go worse and Ghanaians will not forgive NDC. In any case, his chances are slim. His return will also block the chances of other well meaning candidates in NDC who are suitable candidates 4 2024. I.e. Haruna Iddrisu etc. Why don't we use this opportunity to market such candidates.
Nobody is afraid of the comeback of Mahama. The problem is, NDC can't think. All what they think of is to come to power to st3al. Their mind is all about coming bac k to deplete the coffers of which NPP has built. Whether Mahama is elected by NDC or not nobody is scared of Mahama.NDC knows Mahama has stolen so much moeny he can fund the campaign of ndc otherwise the party is broke and there will be no money for their campaign so they are pushing him into a very big defeat that will paralyse him forever. Because Mahama can't think, he's allowed people like Ken and his likes to push him to his death. Mahama has blood on his hands and mother Ghana has forsaken him forever. Nature has rejected Mahama. Any prophet who tells Mahama that he will win 2020 election is not a proper prophet. It can never happen. Those prophets neede money and they tell Mahama this for personal gains. It's a shame. Mahama will be finished in 2020 and will never think of politics again until the party goes to oblivion. Mark my word
@ PADG... if what you're saying is true... then I bet you Ex President Mahama must be investigated for the death of his boss Prof.Mills. Serving your country for even a day must be considered as your first term in office else the already corrupt politician's will have a filled day to eliminate their bosses if fill it's an opportunity to lead the country... Bad precedence...
I believe Mahama will be elected flag-bearer of the NDC.The party practically belongs to him now. Will he win an election.? Most unlikely. This man is the worst leader this country has ever had. He is inept, he is corrupt and he is dangerous for the well-being of the Ghanaian. In the most unlikely situation that this th13f wins he will reverse all the gains that have been made in the last 2 years.Fellow Ghanaians if you want your country to progress, do whatever it takes to keep this man out of power.
He is just greedy, if you are in front of mahama is a problem, if you are behind mahama is a problem. Look at what he did to late president mills and his vice Amisa Arthur. Dangerous person. Ghanaians should think twice.
the problem with ndc and npp footsoldiers is that their leaders will send them to come here to insult ple meanwhile those that sent them are currently having secret meetings to discuss the issues raised against them. anyway of what use are these footsoldiers to their masters if they can not attack those against them. time to wake up guys and stop fighting for these politicians who are messing up ur lives.
The list of fuuuulls are soaring. From the fuuulls prefect wontumi, he has now been joined by his assistant prefect. Gimifo!
Hahaha, hahaha, hahaha! I can't laugh any longer. The man has not even been elected flagbearer of his party, yet people are all over the place contending with his decision to come back. It shows how unintelligent and ediotic they are. At least wait for him to be elected flagbearer then the debate can start from there. There are so many fuuuuulls who have gone to school but are still the same. In any case, what is their fear?
AND WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION HAS IT PLACED TWO TERMS ON MP'S AND MINISTERS? LISTEN TO THE LAWYER'S ARGUMENT WELL. WHO IN GHANA CAN GO FOR HIS PENSION ENTITLEMENTS AND TURN TO APPLY FOR A GOVERNMENT JOB AS A CIVIL SERVANT? LET THE COURT DECIDE FOR THE COUNTRY. THAT IS DEMOCRACY.
Fear and Panic.highly impotent Lawyer.Mps,ministers at end.of their tenure,lose their seats,bounced backs
