The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante says if former President John Mahama really said he will match the NPP boot for boot, he should apologise to the nation.
According to him, as a former head of state he should have known better.
“If he said that, I would want to say that President Mahama, with all humility, I will plead with him to apologise to the nation. In making that statement, he has really created fear in the hearts of people and it’s not just President Mahama I will say this to, I want to say this to all our leaders, people we are looking up to in this nation; that under such circumstances one would expect that they will be the voice of wisdom, a voice that will calm tension, a voice that will help Ghanaians to be able to say: Indeed, we have leaders. So, please let’s be very careful about these things that we say” Rev Asante said in an interview on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Friday.
The former President while reacting to the alleged attack on NDC members during the by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on Thursday, intimated: “we are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot”
“NDC has revolutionary rules and that when it comes to unleashing violence, nobody can beat us in unleashing violence; it is just that we midwifed Ghana’s democracy and so we must be the first to respect Ghana’s democracy and that is why we are acting as a party that is very docile and respecting the rule of law but if we believe that the government cannot protect our people…then we would have to advise ourselves” he added.

Much as I disagree with any form of violent, I honestly don't understand why NPP is being mentioned here - It is evidently clear that those security men are not affiliated to the NPP - I think we need a more responsible opposition party in Ghana. If this is the game and tactics the NDC has employed then they should forget ever coming to power.
Aabah, these wise men are so biased. They never find their voices until they perceive ndc may have done something wrong. The whole of yesterday non of these so called wise men spoke against the attack on innocent Ghanaians but, they are so quick to say if mahama said he will match npp boot for boot then he should apologize to the nation, apologize to invisible forces and delta forces for beating and shooting ndc supporters. What an INSULT! This man didn't even find the need to condemn Ahmed's killers, but today he is seeking apology from his ........
Irresponsible talk from an irresponsible former president
Apologise under my foott. We go MATCH them BOOT for BOOT. No shaking
THIS IS A ***barred word*** FOO*LISH ID*IOT WHO IS CALLING FOR APOLOGY. IF A FOO*LISH GOOD FOR NOTHING PRESIDENT CAN SIT THERE AND ALLOW SUCH BARBARIC THINGS TO HAPPEN TO OTHERS AND NO RESPONSIBLE PERSON IN THE COUNTRY CAN TALK WHY SHOULD JOHN APOLOGISE? YOU THINK GHANA BELONGS TO YOU? LETS WAIT FOR THE D-DAY TO COME AND WE WILL SEE IF YOU WILL HAVE YOUR PEACE. GO TO RWANDA AND SEE THE RESPECT THE HUTUS NOW GIVE TO THE TUTSIS. THAT USED NOT TO BE THE CASE. IT HAS HAPPENED BECAUSE THE WAS WAR.
Has this Mahama guy said ANY sensible thing Ghana? I am not surprised. He only come to be NDC leader only to CREATE, LOOT & SHARE!
i am so shocked the argument the peace council is putting accross. What have you done about vigilantism? Cant you see what Nana Addo and cohorts are doing? Leave the former president alone. I am a Rev Minister too but i think we have not treated NDC well. when it is them then Evil. When it is NPP then good. Neutrality is important. Mahama has kept the NDC humble for the past years but NPP and their leader have been very crazy and unrepentant. Peace Council Warn nana Addo. The president should speak to the nation and apppologize on behalf of his NPP and barbaric act, not Mahama Apologising-for what? Rev Asante, sit up else the war will catch up with all of Us.Invicible forces will march to you.
Please, this hypocrisy in this country must stop. I respect Prof. Asante a lot but did Nana Addo apologize when he said all die be die( i stand to be corrected) If he did not, then Mahama will not but we all condemn the former president's utterances.
SWAT ANOTHER MEAT IS HERE, JUST ONE PAW L;OLOLOLOLOLOLOL
So Mr Peace Council, what should he have said? That he will look on for NDC members to be maimed by NPP thugs? What have you said so far about the incidence? Why can’t you come out to condemn the thuggery first. I’m disappointed in the Peace Council
