The newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan has said that she has forgiven his political rivals over the "Bloody Widow" placard.
Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, has described as regrettable and despicable, the treatment meted out to her by the minority members of parliament during her swearing-in.
During the swearing-in on Tuesday, the Minority brandished placards with the inscription: “Bloody Widow” following a violent by-election leading to her victory.
Madam Alhassan said she was even more surprised to see opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) women, who are supposed to be caring and show support to her, join the men in this inhuman treatment.
Nevertheless, the MP said, “I have forgiven them and I have also asked God to forgive them.”
The Minority in Parliament staged a walk out during her swearing-in, in protest of the violence that rocked the by-election held last week Thursday.
“I don’t know what their interest is but I will say that I have forgiven them and I ask our good Lord to forgive all of them.
"They are the same people who are always advocating that more women join the house . . . I believe time will heal my wounds and it will definitely tell my story,” she sadly said.
