Some youth in the Shai-Osudoku Constituency are calling on their Member of Parliament, Linda Akweley Ocloo, to with immediate effect, apologize to newly elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan for tagging her as ‘Bloody Widow’.
The youth said the stance of their MP to back the Minority in Parliament to described Lydia Alhassan as a ‘bloody widow’ was “unfortunate”.
Linda Ocloo, who lost her husband last year, stated on NEAT FM that there is “absolutely nothing wrong” to tag Lydia Alhassan ‘bloody widow’”.
She described the Minority's walkout and the display of placards with the inscription ‘Bloody Widow’ during Lydia Alhassan’s swearing in as “Politricks” and a norm in Parliament, and should not be blown out of proportion by the media.
“I saw the placards but I see nothing wrong with that. The minority was just expressing their grievances on what happened during the by-election. They never attacked the woman in person,” she said in an interview with NEAT FM’s, Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
But Shai-Osudoku Constituency NPP’s Communications Director, George Mensah in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Friday, February 7, 2019, said their lawmaker will face their wrath if she refuses to apologize.
“She is also a widow and we don’t expect her to support the action by the minority,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
