Former President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday granted audience to the new US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan, who called on him to formally introduce herself on assumption of office.
The two discussed matters of mutual interest to Ghana and the US and recounted their encounter many years ago when Ambassador Sullivan was a Political Officer in the US Embassy, here in Accra.
The discussions among others touched on the recent violence and deployment of state-sponsored vigilante groups during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. The US Ambassador recalled Ghana’s credential as a model of peace and security, and appealed to President Mahama to continue to support efforts towards sustaining peace across the country.
President Mahama raised the need to ban, totally, the formation and deployment of political para military groups and vigilante groups like the ones deployed by the governing party last Thursday. He also assured the US government through the ambassador of his commitment to peace and security.

Did anyone read CODEO and UNDP statements on the ayawaso violence? The reponse by EC could even contribute to this visit. The USA is beginning to suspect intended rigging machinery put in place in the impending 2020 election. Already Jean mensah is condemning observer groups, these groups are funded by the USA and UK governments, so when they are attacked it raises a lot of eyebrows. I am not surprised that this meeting is taking place at this time. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. What is even necessary to forment trouble in mere by election in your stronghold? WHY? Bryan acheampong is an ediot!!!.
This is pure intelligence speaking. The USA might have picked intelligence that John Mahama is likely to win the 2020 election hence this visit. The United States of America doesn't do things for fun. The recent spate of violence, robbery, kidnapping and contract killings may also indirectly suggest to them that nana addo is not democratic. Because to use just two years to dent the image of Ghana's peaceful democracy over the world smacks of incompetence and a terrible leader. The international communities watch everything. Recently USA gave a warning to Nigeria president not to make an attempt to rig the Nigerian election. Nana Addo should sit up, because if he loses the friendship of the West that will be his end. No amount of violence can save him. As John Mahama is meeting these ambassadors, the favor is shifting. This is what the international community do. When mahama was in power the USA and UK DIPLOMATS were in bed with Nana Addo, now the table is turning. The earlier bryan acheampong and sammy awuku stopped the violence the better for them.
YOU THINK USA ARE ***barred word*** LIKE YOUR NDC INCOMPETENT-ONE NPP ALL THE WAY BECAUSE 2020 NO ELECTION RIGGING AND FRAUD AT EC ANYMORE
NDC valued Nana Addo as an opposition leader so I find it hard to believe that NPP will try to water down the influence of a former President who can potentially become president again. NPP must tone down because the likelihood of Mahama becoming president again is bigger than Nana Addo in then opposition
IT REALLY MEANS ALOT..USA NOW SEES THE FORCE OF NDC CHANCES IN 2020... NPP MUST SLOW DOWN.
It means a lot
