National Chairman of the People's National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah says the reason he convened the ‘Aagbe Wo” demonstration in the face of all the issues raised pertaining to Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was to drum home the need to maintain peace in the country.

Now, we in the face of all the issues that I have raised, pertaining to Ayawaso West Wuogon, decided that we need peace in this country and that despite the economic difficulties, the poverty of our people, the lack of food and many other factors that plague us . . . peace should be paramount,” he averred on Radio Gold’s 'Alhaji and Alhaji' talk show.

He insisted that lack of jobs for Ghanaians which has now become breeding grounds for vigilantism, compelled him to convene the inter-party coalition demonstration in protest against the barbarism that took place at Ayawaso West Wuogon.

“ . . even if we are a poor people, even if majority of us are unemployed; even if economic difficulties don’t permit us to make ends meet, peace should be. It is peace that becomes the fertilizer for investment. In the absence of peace, investment doesn’t come; it will run away from you,” he mentioned.

He opined that even with the hope of many political parties to see this Akufo-Addo government changed due to all the hardships imposed on Ghanaians, peace has to be in place to ensure that move.

So if we want Ghana to move forward and the hope that we can even change a party that is putting all these hardships on us, there must be peace before we can do it. So we wrote to the Ghana Police the same day that the event took place that we intended to embark on the 'Aagbe wo'," he said.
