NPP National Youth Organizer, Nana Boakye popularly called Nana B has commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for setting a Commission of Inquiry to probe into the violence that struck the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

The Commission chaired by Justice Emile Short is tasked by the President to fetch for the culprits of the by-election violence and also provide findings on the issue.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana B lambasted the opposition National Democratic Congress on their decision to boycott the Commission of Inquiry.

He questioned the logic of the leadership of the opposition party saying they have been calling on the government to probe the violent incident and bring the culprits to book but would not cooperate with the Commission.

To him, it is shameful for the NDC to boycott the Commission when they are the same people who have been very loud and making wild allegations against the President and his government.

The Minority caucus in Parliament has indicated that they will not cooperate with the Commission.

A statement issued by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu indicated that they won't "relent in pursuing the series of democratic actions we had earlier announced until such a time that we are convinced that there is a genuine effort to hold the cowardly masked perpetrators accountable for their crimes".

Nana B has asked the NDC to rethink their decision, stating emphatically that Justice Emile Short and his panel on the Commission are credible people whose integrity cannot be questioned.

He expressed disappointment in the Minority Leader for issuing the statement but stressed that the government will not be distracted from its course to punish the perpetrators of the violence.

“We’re focused. We thank His Excellency the President for showing leadership by setting up this Commission. When you look at the members of the Commission, they are intelligent; they will tell the truth,” he stated.
