Former Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, has asked President Akufo-Addo to stop Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia from 'talking' because 'anytime he talks, the cedi falls'.
According to him, immediately Dr Bawumia spoke about the cedi on Wednesday at the maiden Town Hall Meeting organised by the Economic Management Team, the cedi depreciated, according to Bloomberg.
Per Bloomberg's report (as stated by Ato) the Ghana Cedi was GHS5.30 to a dollar as at Wednesday; suggesting that had the Vice President kept quiet, the cedi wouldn't have gone up again.
Speaking at a lecture by the opposition party on the performance of the economy, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP said, "I will urge the president to restrain his vice-president because anytime he speaks, the currency moves,” the former Deputy Minister of Finance stated at the opposition National Democratic Congress’ public lecture on Ghana's economy in Accra on Thursday, 4 April 2019.
"....You heard him talk about the likes of the judiciary and the court systems. What has that got to do with the economic management team? He had nothing to say. He was just playing with numbers. And again, you know him and his credentials of lying with numbers. You could see lies,”

Simply come out with the true numbers. There is no point in saying Dr. Bawumia is lying. Come out with the figures, and if people believe you, then it will be clear that he is lying. Example, tell us what the current inflation rate is, then let's check all the credible organisations that come out with these numbers. If what Dr. says is different from what is there, then we will know he is lying.
is he really an economist den NDC really needs to provide more tutorials for him especially wen it comes to monetary economics. if u don't understand simple general investment equilibrium den ur credibility as an economist is questionable
shout up you know nothing about economics. its in only in a party bereft of ideas like NDC that such a empty head like you will be recognised as an economist. have you by the way finished your ACCA? struggling even to pass. apuuuuuuutu
ediot just challenge him with facts if you think you have it
Ndc are empty heads. Yesterday was the lowest day in ourhistory with such display of ignorance, chidishness, comedy and insults all on Dr.Bawumia. It was truly disgraceful. John Mahama should not have attended. Very bad.
Ato, I am not sure how far you have studied Economics but let me tell you that a lot of issues affect Economic decisions. Why are you questioning the Vice Presidents talking about the judiciary? Do you know what is called Investor Confidence? Even civil riots can affect investor confidence which will have direct relations to Economic decisions. Please if you don't know keep to your basic economics and do not try to challenge what you do not know.
